    A Deeper Song

Tina stood tall and slender beside her daughter, whose height almost reached her shoulder.  Bette stood on Angelica’s left.  At ten it was clear that Angelica would probably stand taller than either of her mothers by the time she reached her maturity.  The service was a simple one.  A large print of Rosanna at the top of the center asile; smiling, happy, it was easy to see that she had found love, she seemed to be looking at them all, but mostly it seemed at a certain someone who was not in the frame.  Her ashes would be dispersed at an unknown location.  It was clear that no one was invited to the final part of this ritual.

It had happened in the blink of an eye.  Rosanna pulled out of the parking lot of The Planet, in her silver Jaguar, top down, brown hair lose.  Bette in her Saab, also top down, waited for Rosanna to pull out.  They had met there for a light supper before heading home.

The Corvette, red, opened it seemed full throttle hit her on the driver’s side.  The driver a seventeen year old, the ink on the license days old, and a blood alcohol count above the legal limit, survived.  The brown haired, blue-eyed woman died shortly after impact, cradled in the arms of her wife.

Bette was out of the car and running, anxious to pull Rosanna from the crumpled wreckage that had been her car.   She yanked on the door of the passenger side, the drivers side mangled beyond use.  The hood of the corvette had smashed the driver’s side door, pinning its occupant against the restraining strap causing massive internal injuries.

Bette was frantically pulling on the car door.  “Rosanna.  Hang on, I’m going to get you out of there.”

In her last moments Rosanna sought the ebony eyes of her wife.  “Love”.

                Love was her last word.

Kit was suddenly there, helping her to yank open the door.  Bette saw she could not ease Rosanna from under the wreckage without hurting her further eased closer to her and used her body to anchor her right side.

    3. aaawwwwwwwwww hell…that was from the story that u had 2 endings to, wasn’t it…sad about ro but does this mean a bette and tina re-union, i hope…good stuff pps

    4. See all someone needs to do is write a story like this and we all become a bunch of blithering idiots. Were such softies. As much as I had always wished Bette had chosen Tina over Ro, I would not have wanted this for her. I have faith that Tina and Angelica will take care of her.

    5. Sounds like this will be a beautiful story. Tina is still able to comfort Bette even though they are not together and the family is still close. Please continue soon i’d like to see where you take this.

    6. Oh dear. I can see this is going to be a tough one, but I trust you kel, so I’m in for the ride. Good to see you back. Post when you can.

    7. SO sad. I just hope Bette can come around soon and enjoy life. I think that what Ro would have wanted. I am here for as long as you write. Thanks
