A Dylena Story
Saturday Night 6:50

Ding, dong………….

“Hello, Dylan. Come in.”
“Hi…..Helena……Um, these are for you.” As soon as she opened the door I could tell something was wrong. When she takes the bouquet from me I can see she’s upset. She’s not looking at me, but I see her eyes are glossy and her mascara is smeared slightly like she had been crying.
“Thank you, Dylan. They’re beautiful.” Giving just a faint smile, she steps aside to allow me through her door. “Lets go to the kitchen and I’ll find a vase to put these in.”
Following her to the kitchen I wonder why she has been crying. Did something happen or was it because of me? I just got here, it couldn’t be me, unless, she was having second thoughts. But, she did invite me in. I hope nothing has happened, maybe to her mother or someone else. That can’t be it, she would of said something or canceled our dinner. Unsure of whether to ask her what had her so upset, I decide on small talk. “It smells wonderful. Um, I wasn’t sure what you were making so I picked out a Merlot.”
“Thank you, it’s chicken so Merlot was a perfect choice.”
She finishes arranging the roses in a vase and sets them down on the kitchen table. Something has her upset and I’m beginning to think more and more that it is me. She hasn’t looked at me since opening the door. She’s touching the petals of one of the peach roses, lightly rubbing it between her thumb and index finger. “They are beautiful Dylan, thank you.”
She finally looks up but avoids making eye contact with me. “Uh, I was just about to go to the bathroom before you arrived. Please, make yourself at home. The chicken has a few more minutes, so if you’ll just excuse me for a moment. Maybe, open the wine. The cork screw is in that draw and the glasses are in the cupboard just above it.”
“Oh, sure, I can do that. Go ahead.”
I open the bottle of wine and let it sit. The buzzer for the chicken goes off as I’m getting the wine glasses. I turn the timer and the burner off, then take the chicken off the heat. I go back to the wine and pour a glass for each of us. I place her glass next to one of the plate settings on the table and take a sip of mine while sitting down at the other.

still lovin’ your story
Loved this chapter, currently sitting here on the train smiling goofily. I may look derranged lol. I like the fact you did the mascara thing I have no idea why but I would never have thought of it! And true Helena minimal make up. Will Dylan be able to grasp the concept it will take a lot more than a bit of small talk and dinner for Alice and them to be less protective of Helena’s well-being. I hope Helena doesn’t let Alice’s unwanted words ruin their evening their is so much to discuss. Thanks Lady Dove, I intended to post last night but domestic life caught up on me. I’m arriving in Liverpool now so hopefully a post shall be up before the nights out. I know few days away and I bring my laptop with me that’s how devoted I am haha. Great update ppvs. Maybe abit more of Dylans POV and then Helena chapter after :D
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Now I will go back and read the entire chapter, only read a couple paragraphs and looked at the rest of it. You did a perfect job and it read well. You’ve got it down.
Great update. Glad that Dylan finally asked Helena what was wrong rather than assuming she was the cause of Helena’s discomfort. Hope they have a good talk and we know it won’t be easy. Dylan may be the one to tell Alice to butt out. I understand how Alice feels but she should take her lead from Helena and leave them be to talk with each other. Helena is after all a big girl, even though her emotions are so banged up at the moment, I think she will be able to extricate herself from Dylan should she need to do so. Great update. Thanks for posting.
