Rather than let Alice go to the Planet for lunch, Tina thought it better for them to talk and have lunch in a less intrusive environment. She convinced Alice to come back inside as she talked to Bette about her idea.

When she was alone with Bette in the kitchen, Tina told her the plan she had, conveniently leaving out the part about telling Alice she once loved Helena too. Although she did hint at that being the reason the two of them should be left alone to talk. Deep down she knew Bette was smart enough to realize that what she had felt for Helena was based on more than her need to get back at her for the affair. Bette knew her to well to think that was the only reason. Tina also knew Bette was secure enough in their relationship to know that it was all in the past. Or at least she hoped she knew.

“I was just thinking that I could maybe talk to Alice. She might open up to me more. You know, I think maybe I can relate to her more on this than you can.”

Bette knew why Tina thought she could help Alice through this. Helena was a past lover in Tina‘s life. As much as she wanted to believe Tina was only using Helena as a tool for revenge because of her affair, she knows there was more between them. She has accepted that and has come to terms with their past relationship. She put all that behind her and has actually grown to like Helena. In that ex-lover of the love of my life and mother to my child, who just happens to now be her friend and business partner of my sister’s, kind of way.

“Well, I agree with you that she shouldn’t go to the Planet right now and she shouldn‘t be alone.”

“So, you’re okay with this?”

“Tina, I know that you once felt something more than friendship for Helena. I know you had a relationship with her and I’m okay with that. I understand why you think you might be able to help Alice and I think you’re right about her opening up to you more. She was an absolute mess when she got here last night. She didn’t want to talk to you and I think it’s because of you’re past relationship with Helena. You two both have, or had in your case, the same physical feelings toward Helena in common.”
