“You don’t have to.”

“Excuse me?” totally confused by that statement.  “I’m sorry I just thought that after that amazing kiss, which was absolutely and totally amazing by the way, and the flowers that you wanted to I don’t know.  I don’t know what I think you wanted.”

“T, wait a second.  You know me better than anyone and I think that you know what the kiss and the flowers meant for me.”

“Well, I thought I did but”

“T just hold on, let’s go back to what you said about not being like Candace to someone else.  First of all, I have learned my mistake about cheating and could never and will never do it again.  Secondly, I would never put you in that position you mean too much to me.”

“Well I guess that my assumptions were wrong and maybe we really don’t have anything to talk about.  Maybe that kiss was really just a mistake in a moment of sentimentality.  You say that you wouldn’t put me in that position but you have.  You kissed me last week and you are with Jodi.  That’s cheating.”

“Okay T, you’re right and I am very sorry to have put you in that position.  I really am.  I think I need to explain some things to you.  Jodi and I,”

“Bette I don’t need to know about you and Jodi that is between the two of you.”
“No Tina, you do need to know this.  I broke up with Jodi this afternoon.”

“You what?” shocked by Bette’s statement.

“I broke up with her.  T, as I said I learned my lesson about cheating on someone and after some heavy duty thinking this last week I decided that I couldn’t continue with the relationship that I was in.  It wasn’t right, it wasn’t what it used to be and quite frankly it isn’t what I want.”

“What do you want Bette?”

“You T, I want you and I want us.”

“Oh.”

They both just sat the looking at each other thinking of what to say next, what the next step in this discussion would be.

After a few minutes of silence Tina found her voice again and spoke up,

“Bette, I want us too.”

“Oh,”

Tina laughed a little, “Bette I believe that’s my line.”
