Chapter Two

Bette returned to her room to find Shane still asleep. She felt bad waking her and decided that she too could us a nap, she was on holidays. As soon as she closed her eyes the vision of the blonde from the beach invaded her thoughts. She let out a exasperated sigh which caused a quiet moan from Shanes side of the room.

Oh, Shane, Im so sorry. Did I wake you? Bette felt truly sorry for disturbing Shane. Bette grinned to herself, after all she knew what it was like after a late night.

No, no. Its fine. Ive been lazing in bed for awhile so you have nothing to worry about.

Silence filled the room before Shane spoke again, So whats got you all worked up?

Bette turned on her side to face Shanes bed, Why would you think Im worked up?

Shane turned to face Bette as well, Well you came back to the room, while on holidays on a beautiful tropical island, to lie down for a nap, and Bette Porter does not take naps. Shane paused for a moment then smiled, Plus your loud sigh gave you away.

Bette just looked at Shane but didnt say anything. Shane was beginning to get worried. It wasnt like Bette to show emotions so freely. Even if she did think that Shane was sleeping when she came back to the room, something was wrong and Shane didnt like to see her friends upset. Come on Bette you can tell me.

Bette debated telling Shane about the woman from the beach but then she realized there was nothing to tell. Really its nothing. Im just bored. Dana is training. Alice is trying to pick up some stud of a bartender. And youve been sleeping. She concludes her statement with an exaggerated roll of her eyes so that Shane would know that she wasnt upset with her friends, just bored being alone.

Well then. If thats all it is just give me a few minutes to get ready then why dont you escort me to breakfast.

Bette looked at the clock on the bedside table, Dont you mean lunch?

Shane threw a pillow at her as she got out of bed and made her way towards the bathroom.

Bette rolled onto her back and attempted to close her eyes again but again she saw the blonde beauty from the beach. With another loud sigh she sat up in bed and looked for the remote. She hoped that this woman wouldnt be stuck in her mind all day.

When Shane made it out of the bathroom a few minutes later ready for the day Bette was quickly flipping through the channels over and over again. Whoa Bette slow down there youre going to give yourself a headache.

Bette ignored the comment and Shanes questioning glance, Ready to go Shane?

Sure, but why dont we swing by the bar first. Maybe Alice is done harassing that poor bartender and wants to join us.

Finally after all the excitement of the girls trying to get any information they could out of Karen about her late night escapades, none of which Karen would give up, the group quietly settled down to get some more sun.

As soon as the girls stopped talking Tinas mind traveled back to the woman from earlier. She quickly scolded herself and tried to make herself think of Eric or anything else. But the harder and harder she tried not to think about the beautiful woman the more and more she thought about her.

At first is started off innocently enough, or so Tina thought. Why was she here? Why was she alone on the beach? Who did she come with? But soon Tinas train of thought switched gears and she began to remember the womans enchanting skin and her long neck and soft shoulders which her dark hair cascaded down before reaching her

Whoa. Tina sat up quickly. Looking around afraid that someone else may have caught her. Caught her doing what exactly. She didnt even understand it herself. All she knew was that she need a distraction. Looking at her watch she noticed it was just after noon. Perfect.

Turning towards the girls she asked. Is anyone up for some lunch?

All the girls waved their hands over their faces to say no. Only Karen sat up. Hungry already Tina? Well its early and I just ate breakfast, she said with a wink, but Id love to get off of the beach. Too much sitting around never did anyone good.

Tina was so glad for Karen and her light attitude. All the girls had been friends since high school but as the years went by she found that they were all drifting farther and father apart. She loved them all dearly but sometimes it was hard to spend more than a few hours with all of them together. Everyone had changed so much.

Tina was just thankful that Karen had ended up coming with them. Ever since Karen had told all the girls that she was ***** they had been slowly separating themselves from her. Tina didnt know if it was just the girls doing or if Karen was spending less and less time with her old friends because they were making her feel less and less comfortable. But she couldnt blame her. The other girls hadnt taken the news too well. Tina didnt mind though. She took it all in stride. To her Karen was still the same girl that she had meet ten years ago.

Leaving their towels behind the two made there way towards the bar.

Thanks Karen, I just couldnt sit out there any longer.

Tina, dont worry. I dont mind. I was getting a little bored myself. I can only take lying in the sun for so long. Plus the girls were getting to me with all the questions.

Yeah, sorry about that. They just are all glad you came and want to make you feel comfortable. Tina gave her a sweet smile.

Nothing to apologies for. I just didnt want to reveal too much. I mean I dont think Ive got the kind of details they want to hear.

Tina gave her a sympathetic smile, Well if you want to talk, ever, about anything, you know Im here.

Always Tina, I know. Thanks. Karen turned away from Tina when someone called her name. Tina followed the direction of the voice as well and saw a blonde woman with short blonde hair by the bar. Before she could say anything to Karen she was being pulled of in the same direction as the voice.
