    A Line Crossed

“I wanted to say I’m sorry for not talking to you for the last couple weeks and for not saying thanks. You take me out to a nice dinner and then invite me out to dance; you took care of me when I was drunk.”

“You’re welcome,” I said and turned away, continuing to shove things in my bag.

“The truth is, I remember everything that happened that night,” she said and I froze, “I remember the dancing, and I remember the kiss.”

“Kiss? What kiss,” I ask, still with my back to her.

“I think you remember,” she said and I turned to her. She’s now standing inches away from me. Her lips are so inviting. There is so much adrenaline moving throughout my body, and I lean forward, and I plant a small kiss on her lips. Her lips that are like two rose petals, so beautiful and unique, I could spend hours worshipping them. We then hear a knock on the door, and we part quickly.

“Come in,” I say my voice cracking a bit, and I picked my bag up just as the door opened.

“Uh, Bette just wanted you to know they’re sending new orders for Mr. Greene in five oh four,” Joan, one of the therapists says, and she eyeballs both Tina and I.

“Thanks, I’ll look at it here in a sec.”

“Ok, have a good day,” she says and closes the door. Tina and I both stand there in an awkward silence, neither of us knowing what to say.

“We have to talk,” she said, breaking the silence.

“Yes, definitely, I will be at The Planet in an hour. We can have coffee and talk if you wish.”

“I’m not sure, I have Jackson with me, and he’s hanging out with Eric and the nurses while I came up here to talk to you. I don’t want him to pick up on what we’re saying, and I certainly don’t want him to accidentally say anything to Eric.”

“He won’t, just bring him; I don’t think Kit would mind watching him for a little bit.”

    “I don’t know.”

“Well that’s where I’ll be if you decide to come.”

Kit had brought me a coffee and scone while I waited for Tina. I asked Kit to watch Jackson while Tina and I talked, she wanted details and I told her I’d let her know when Tina left. I laid my books out and started doing my school work. An hour had gone by and Tina still hadn’t shown up, I feared she wouldn’t. I sighed and started my reading exercise when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and those crystal blue eyes made my heart skip a beat.
