A Matter of Time

Tina arrived at the Planet and looked around. When she recognised Alice and Dana sitting at the usual table, she walked towards her friends. As she arrived, she dropped her purse on the table. She sat down and said in a very decisive tone: “And now it’s for real.”

Alice and Dana frowned their eyebrows simultaneously. They looked at each other and back at Tina. It was obvious what was going through their heads – What is the matter with her?

Alice, as always, was the one to ask the question. “What’s up, Tina?”

Tina smiled smugly. “My condition is zero and that has to change. I’m getting fat.”

“Saying that is saying I am fat,” Shane said as she joined the girls. “You have an amazing figure, Tina, and you know it.”

“Still, my condition isn’t good,” Tina answered, blushing at Shane’s compliment. Shane was no love interest for her, she was a very good friend but nothing more. Shane just had that effect on every girl, gay or straight. She knew Shane thought it was a shame that she belonged to that last group op people.

“Oh. My. God.” Alice gasped loudly. “Has Eric said that you are fat?”

“What? No, of course not. He’d never…”

Marina came over to order the drinks of the two new comers that both answered simultaneously: “The usual.”

Marina smiled, winked at Tina and disappeared again. Dana sighed. “That woman just can’t help it. She has to flirt with everyone.”

“Even the straight ones,” Tina agreed.

Dana, Alice and Shane all looked at Tina with a grin.

“What?” Tina asked, getting nervous at the expression on the faces of the girls.

“You? Straight? It’s like saying the pope is gay,” Alice said. “I mean, we all saw you ogling that brunette the other night. What was her name? Helena?”

“She’s right, you know,” Shane said. “Helena is so hot. On top of that, she’s British. Anyone would sign for a hot, British gal.”

“Not me. I am straight. I mean, you guys, I’m with Eric since forever. Since way before I met all of you.”

“A girl is straight until she’s not,” Alice stated. “We know you’re still in Denialville, but it’s really time to move your ass to the good side of town.”
