Bette~

Bette and Shane were having a wonderful day. They walked around and Bette described the different techniques the painter had used or what the photographer wanted to show in pictures. Bette got lost in the art as she usually did but Shane was in awe. She had never had anyone show her such beauty or talk about anything with so much love. She wanted to be that way. To be passionate about something the way that Bette was. When lunch time finally came around she was sad to go. Shane wanted to stay and learn more but she knew that there would be plenty of time for that later, over the weeks that she would be stay with Bette and Tina.

“Are you ready for this?” Bette asked as they got into the car.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Shane replied buckling her seat belt.

They stayed silent on the drive to the planet, which only took 15 minutes. Shane was nervous and Bette knew it. She wanted Shane to feel comfortable with the people that she would likely see over the next few weeks. She knew that Kit wouldn’t be a problem, but Alice would. Alice was like a piranha with the scent of fresh blood in the water. She had chosen the right profession when she became a reporter, because she always asked a million and two question regardless of what the situation called for.  Bette pulled into the parking lot and got out. She helped Shane out of the car. They walked in and headed over to a table. Almost as soon as they sat down Kit was over.

“Hey baby girl, who’s your new friend? I hope she’s not the one you were talking about. No offense sweetheart but your kind of young” Kit said sitting down

“Kit relax, this is Shane and she’s going to be staying with Tina for a few weeks”

“Nice to meet you Shane. Any friend of Bette’s who’s a friend of this mysterious Tina is a friend of mine. By the way when do I get to meet her?”

“Nice to meet you too” Shane replied shyly

“In due time Kit. Maybe this weekend?”

“Sounds like a plan. We’ll do a cookout at your house. What can I get you girls?” Kit asked getting up
