A New Found Land – Chapter Three
Chapter Three
Just close your eyes Bette, stop fucking thinking about her. “But she’s so darn pretty. How can you forget that.” Well for one, it’s useless, not arriving at her house tomorrow, because you didn’t get enough sleep, so fall asleep.
I scrunched my eyes close, in a feeble attempt at falling asleep. I had been laying here for almost two and a half hours now. Ms Kennard’s soft features fleeting across my mind. Especially her smile.
“God, I know, she sort of had dimples but not really.” Yeah I know, isn’t she just gorgeous, wait hold on a second, shut up and let me sleep! “Fine, fine, just stop with the nerves and you’ll fall asleep” That’s what you said like hours ago.
Eventually, from pure exhaustion, I fell into a sleep filled with Ms Kennard smiles, Ms Kennard hair and Ms Kennard house-smell. I was doomed.

The alarm rang. I was already awake though. Lying in bed, waiting for it to give me the go-ahead to get up. After a basting-hot shower, I put on my blue Levis, and a really skin-tight tee. After a quick glance in the mirror looking myself over, I skipped down into the kitchen, to the waiting Maria.
“Two days in a row Miss Bette?” She eyed me as if I wasn’t the real Bette Porter “What has happened, you are still in such a good mood Miss?”
“Well Maria, when I thought that yesterday would be a good day, it sure as hell was!” I quickly gulped down my espresso, picked up an apple and ran out to the car. I had forgotten my bag. Whoops.
I ran back into the kitchen, to find Maria, standing there one hand on her hip, my bag in her other hand and the most unimpressed look on her face.
“Miss Bette, you are off form. I call this love.”
“What Maria?” I was genuinely shocked. I swallowed. “I gotta run.” And before Maria could say anything else I sped out of there, leaving her smirking and shaking her head.
“Good morning Bette” I said to myself, getting into the car and checking myself out again in the mirror, fixing my hair. Oh god, come on, until puberty, I never had to deal with a subconscious, do you mind canning it for a couple hours today and not barge in on my time with Ms K. But by all means distract me as much as you wish when I’m with Alice! “Ah now, that’s not so much though Bette and you know it. Plus, uhm, I am you; hence I know that Ms K time is so much better to be at.” Fine whatever, then just tone it down a little! Jesus.
Two minutes later I was coming up to Ms Kennard’s house. I pulled up slowly, not knowing if I should go up to the door or not. But there was definitely no need. Slowly I put the car into neutral and stayed sitting in my car, taking in the site in front of me. – Ms K.
