    A Part of Me

    Chapter 27

Shane was sitting on the couch flipping through some channels Carmen had gone downstairs to take advantage of the spa when she heard a knock at the door.

Shane opened the door and saw Bette standing there.

Shane hesitated she almost slammed the door in Bette’s face, but curiosity got the best of her. She stepped aside and motioned to Bette with her arm that she could come in.

“Can I please speak to Tina” Bette asked feeling very nervous

    “She’s not here” Shane replied

“Oh, do you know when she’ll be back?” Bette asked

“I mean she’s gone, she went back to L.A. this morning”

Bette, slumped down on the sofa, and placed her head in her hands.

    “Fuck!” Bette said

“I really fucked things up haven’t I?” Bette threw her head back on the couch cushion

“Yeah, you did I saw it in her eyes today, the sadness in her eyes you broke her heart” Shane softly said

Bette had tears running down her cheeks.

“I never wanted to hurt her”

Shane bit her tongue, she used all her self control not to lash out at Bette she knew Tina would not have wanted her to do that, so Shane sat on the couch and stared at a broken down Bette and spoke.

    “Then why?”

“I was a little drunk, feeling a little alone, sad, mad, confused as to why Tina wasn’t here with me, on a visit we had planned for so long, I was missing her something terrible. Too proud to tell her what I felt overwhelmed with feelings I have never felt before, scared.”

“Samantha, the girl at the club, she’s been flirting with me all week at work, I was ignoring her, until last night I she kissed me, I don’t know why or how it happened but I kissed back”

“What does that mean Bette, you kissed her back are you attracted to her has that happened before?”

“No!! no never I swear, I’ve been faithful to Tina, I just…I don’t know this is so fucked up. You wouldn’t understand”

    1. Shane was right, Bette should have gotten herself on the first plane to LA when she learned Tina had gone home. Bette has no excuse for doing what she did, being drunk and lonely is certainly is no excuse. She should have slapped the hell out of Samantha when she started kissing her. So she was lonely she should have kept her behind at home, Tina knew how to find her and she would have. Even if she was coerced into being there she had no excuse for her behavior. I don’t blame Tina at all, it encourages a level of distrust that never goes away. That will always be with them even if they get back together. I really hope Tina gives her another chance but I couldn’t blame her if she didn’t. Bette is a beautiful idiot. Thanks for posting. PPS

    3. uh oh. this all has the air of something that’s going to stretch out into further episodes of mistrust and long separations and unfulfilling relationships… maybe tina really is too young to be in a relationship with bette, or anyone else for a while. maybe they should part ways and tina can live it up in l.a. for a while… being young and rich and carefree and utterly stubborn in her unforgiving stance… in nyc, bette can descend into a life of wretched debauchery, barely keeping her rising career together by day, shagging her way across the five boroughs by night. or, they can both not succumb to the hurdle, and work through it, and bette could earn back tina’s trust, instead of telling shane that she’s ready to give up… be interesting to see what paths their lives take. thanks for the post

    4. Since Tina will never forgive Bette and trust her again, they should stay separated. Please no so called second chance, makes no sense to be in an unequal relationship (Bette in love and constantly on probation, Tina not so much in love and never letting Bette off the hook). There is nothing Bette can do. These things happen. Tina will, no doubt, get over Bette pretty quick, whereas Bette will be miserable and will get no support from her friends. Thank you for posting.

    5. Drunk, lonely, there’s always some miserable excuse as to why its the non-cheating partner’s fault. Whoa, this is very close to home for me and probably many readers. I’m not sure how Tina can forgive her unless of course moves to LA and is always under T or the family’s watchful eye. But what a way to live? always waiting for the next temptation and the next excuse. Grow up Bette. T sounds way more mature than you. PPS. oH YEA,I agree dAINTY, SHE SHOULD HAVE KEPT HER SAD ass AT HOME RATHER THAN BREAK tINA’S HEART. She promised to protect T and all that shyt. Is that what all cheaters say???!! It sounds so familiar.[sorry about the caps, and too lazy to go fix ’em].
