    A Second Chance at Forever

"How was the water?" Bette asked as Tina entered through the patio doors.

"Perfect," Tina replied. She had a one piece suit on rather than a bikini, because she actually wanted to swim, instead of lounging by the pool. "Cool enough for a good workout without feeling overheated."

"Got in an early swim, hey?" Alice asked. She leaned down to place the salad she had brought on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.

"Yeah, one of the other parents is dropping Angie off," Tina replied. "She should be here any minute. Could you pass me a glass of water from that pitcher? I don’t want to have to dry off – I’m getting back in the pool."

Alice silently poured the water into a plastic tumbler for Tina to take outside.

Once Tina slid the door shut, Alice’s curiosity got the better of her.

"I thought you and Tina only spoke when Angie was around," Alice mentioned.

"Alice don’t be so inquisitive," Dana said as she unwrapped a tray of cut vegetables to put out for snacks.

"It’s okay Dana," Bette replied, and then turned to Alice. "We parent a child together Alice. There’s an ebb and flow to how we communicate."

"And today it’s flowing?" Alice questioned. "I mean, I know you ditched Olivia right after you got all melancholy about finding that photograph…"

"Alice," Bette said crisply. "We talk. We’re getting along. Can’t that be all there is?"

"It shouldn’t be all there is," Alice said under her breath before speaking in full voice again. "I left my swim stuff in the car. Be right back."

"Sorry about her," Dana said after hearing the front door close. "Her meddling is done with good intentions. She just wants everyone to be happy. "

"Like you two, right?" Bette asked.

    "Right," Dana smiled. "Like us."

Tina settled onto one of the lounge chairs beside where Shane was relaxing.

"So," Shane started, looking over the aviator frames of her sunglasses. "What’s new?"

Tina laughed. A subtle invitation to talk if she wanted to, but of course Shane had no designs on being involved in gossip.

    1. I really like how this story is progressing, jks. Hope they’ll get more heart-to-heart talks before their weekend tryst. I like the way you write dialogue-driven scenes with loads of emotional undercurrent. And thumbs up too for your grammatically- sound and carefully proofread posts. Thanks a bunch, jks! =) Please keep on writing and posting and we’ll keep on reading and appreciating. =) (Side note: when I saw “Finding Nemo” again a couple of weeks ago, I heard the lovable Dory chant jks repeatedly. Is that the origin of your username? Just curious. Thanks!)

    2. Thanks JKS for another sweet update! 😊👍 uhm.. What happened under the water can be seen by someone who is swimming 🏊 with goggle on.. ;-) so I wonder… Hehe… PPVS! 😁 btw yup! So lucky to have S6 in your public library!! In where I live, dont even think to buy any of it legally 😞 *sigh…*
