All the Fallen ~ Chapter 25 ~ Hardcore

Sam walked with a purpose, her usually grey eyes blood shot and the right one was pitch red.  The cheek under it broken and bruised, but not yet too painful.  Her left hand was a swollen mess as she held the envelope with her right hand.

Her jaw was set as her blonde hair hung in her eyes she walked to the door.  She shook her head, and wondered why the hell she cared.  Why had she bothered, hadn’t she been burned enough?

She reached into her back pocket gingerly and pulled out a lock pick.  She inserted it and squeezed the mechanism four times, and she heard the lock slipping open.

For a tennis pro, her locks sucked.  The security system wasn’t even on.  She walked into the house as if she knew where everything was.  In fact, she did in a way.  She saw the stairs right in front of her and walked up them.  Quickly finding the master bedroom, and pulling open the first drawer of the dresser.

She pulled out a lacy bra, and instantly knew it was her wife’s.  It was Posh Spice, and Dana was certainly Sporty Spice.  She made a face of disgust and put the bra back.  She went to the walk-in closet and found the drawers where Dana kept her underwear.

She slid the huge manila envelope into the drawer, feeling a bit better about everything she’d done for Lara Perkins.

She rued the day that she’d met Lara, and the whole thing had been a darker section in a dark life.  Sam slid her hands into her pockets, walking out of the house and heading for the sporty Mazda she drove.

The pain in her hand made her wince with each step, the broken ribs grinding beneath her skin, the black and bloody eye making her vision blurry.  Yet the physical hardship she was enduring was nothing to what her soul have been fostering in the last month.

Getting back the negatives, the photos and buying out the ad campaign that should have started tomorrow had drained Sam in many ways.  Not financially, but mentally and physically as well.  Sam was a good soul, she didn’t like hurting people, hence one of the strong reasons for becoming a doctor, to save lives.  Not to put an end to them, whether it be their love life, their home life or they professional life.
