ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE – Chapter 56

Bette stepped out of the showers and made her way back to her clothes and kit bag. She was just brushing her hair out when her opponent joined her at the bench

“I am out of shape “

Bette chuckled “You will live this luxury life style of eating out nearly every day – when did you last just have soup and a sandwich in your office?”

Helena sat on the bench and dried her feet

“I have no idea – work is so busy – if I am not out with a writer then I’m being nice to an agent or someone else – it’s a damn hard life. You should try it some day “

“No thanks – I don’t think I could cope with working in an office every day. I guess it’s just a different sort of discipline that I have to have “

“And how is the new book?”

“Really good – I’m just sharpening up the first chapter – then you can see it “

    “What about my newest writer?”

“Two chapters in the bag despite having started a few weeks after me “

    “Have you read it?”

“I’ve read the first chapter and it’s just brilliant – I decided that I didn’t want to read it in pieces. She’s promised me the first read when it’s all done “

Helena started to get dressed – she wanted to ask about Tina’s problem but she was still raw after their falling out two weeks before when it had taken Tina and Jodie to bring them together to sort out their disagreement. Helena had no desire to upset Bette – she was more than just a writer – they were best friends and had been throughout University and they had come through a great deal which had merely made them stronger. Helena had survived Emily’s disapproval of her – something that had threatened her relationship more than anything that could even happen with Tina. Helena had told Jodie everything after the recent squabble. Mainly how Emily could never get it out of her head that Helena was not trying to get into Bette’s knickers. Bette had always just laughed at the mere idea and refused to take the concept seriously. That had just served to annoy Emily and she had very subtle ways of letting Helena know that she didn’t want her around. In the end Helena had taken the same approach as Bette – – she had laughed off all accusations and continued to hang around with Bette.

    1. Oh God! I hope if it is Tina that it was someone elses falt and not from Tina being drunk. Please post again soon. Great chapter by the way it was great how Tina talked about her fears to Bette and I hope everything ends up being ok.

    2. Hoping it’s not Tina… Ollie, maybe? Or Tina, but then, let her be okay and just a victim in this accident, not at fault… Two remarks Ally… 1) When did Paul become Pete, and then Paul again?? LOL! and 2) LMAO at the “in a Lassie moment” line!!! Cracked me up! Thanks…

    3. OH ALLY !! You can be so cruel – hanging us out there with the phone call. Why isn’t Tina getting some professional help with her problem? Doing it alone is a set up for failure – and Bette can’t be the only support the burden on the relationship is too much for both partners when one has a drinking problem. My two cents to your great creation.

    4. AllyE, you are the champion drama queen. I knew we would have a bit of drama soon just not now, but what better time after they have had their talk. and everything looks okay, at least on the surface. There will always be doubts about Tina’s problem. So hope this is not her fault, maybe some drunk hit her, that would give her pause to think about drinking again. Maybe, but it is a very serious illness. Hope Cheryl gets to feeling better very soon. Give her lemon and honey and lots of hot toddies. Post when you can.

    5. Hey Ally, Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! After your wonderful word on addiction and those who love an addict the sky is falling. A car crash. Please continue this dramatic drama real soon. Bette and Helena were great together. Real pal who do fall out but can still move past it and strengthen their relationship. It was exciting to hear Bette’s proposal plans and her soubt about being there for Tina through thick and thin. Some alcohol therapy for them both might be good way to go. Then they can each see the effect this addiction has on them both and hopefully avoid stress moments in the future. Good to see that Tina is open with Bette; not convinced that it is 100% but certainly up in the 90s. Now, just back to the accident and tell me the truth. Thank you so much for this awesome adventure. every possible emotion is covered briiliantly. Much appreciation from Your Loyal Fan.

    6. I can’t believe that you stopped here, are you serious, Ally get back to that computer and start writing that new chapter (if you are not doing anything else). That was a good chapter, it’s time for Bette to propose and get this thing over with, Tina needs her now more than ever, she needs to really feel the sense of belonging to someone, I know she should because they are already a couple but, marriage will give her a sense of stability that she needs right now more than ever, thanks Hun, post soon.Love

    7. Hello ally, I absolutely love this story and I cannot wait for more. You really know how to end on a sharp note don’t you. Please Please Please don’t have Tina involved with drinking and driving… that would kill me… maybe if she was hit by a drunk driver then it would help her to realize how much she needs to let her vice go but don’t have her DUI… PPS, Sincerely, JC

    8. Yes, mean. You take your sweet time getting around to posting, you fill our heads with reconcilliation, holidays, and proposals, and then out of the blue you throw in a car crash. Well, we know it’s not Bette, Lara, or Paul. Who is it, you meanie?

    9. Yeah. I hope she wasn’t drinking and driving. That would be a little to PSA for me plus its absolutely disgusting. If Tina was drinking and driving the grandparents should get the kids because Tina and Ollie are way too fucked up. And there is no way Bette could be with her considering her own children. I think Bette let Helena off way too easily. Helena is all up in her relationship when its not her place at all. No wonder Emily hated her.. three people in a relationship is never fun. Even if Helena is just nosy and not into Bette..she needs to keep her feelings about her relationships with anyone to herself. Friends aren’t in your business like that..at least not healthy friendships with boundaries.
