American Werewolves in London: Part 5

Bette would need clothes if she was going to have any sort of date with Helena. Actually, she didn’t really need clothes, unless their date was in public—which it would have to be, since Bette still wasn’t completely certain that she was not a werewolf.

Helena allowed the slightly taller woman the chance to choose from her wardrobe. “We’ll go shopping tomorrow, all right?” She promised. They turned shy all of a sudden, deciding on separate showers to get ready.

Helena dressed quickly after her shower, choosing a pair of beige khakis and a loose cotton shirt she had picked up somewhere in Camden Market.  Her mother always called this her ‘hippie’ look, but to Helena it was the clothing she wore when she was nervous and needed to feel more relaxed. She dapped a bit of perfume, sandlewood and something else, on her neck.

When Bette emerged from her shower, she smiled to see Helena like this—nervously getting ready for their date like a teenager. Bette was of two minds: part of her wanted to go out, to be safe, but the other part of her wanted to take off the towel she wore and seduce Helena then and there.

“I’ll wait for you in the living room.” Helena said with a sweet look. They paused, their gazes frozen on one another.  Bette leaned forward and was rewarded with a long and lovely kiss.

“Oky doky.” Bette said with a goofy grin.  Far too many hormones were rushing to her head and so Helena left her with a laugh, and the instruction to take her time.

Bette sat heavily on the bed, drying her hair with a towel. It hung wet and curly down her shoulders, and she looked it over, wondering if the rest of her would have curly dark hair soon. She grimaced.

“Oh don’t worry.” A soft voice sounded to the right of her.

“Jenny, goddamit!” Bette hissed, looking worridly at the door. “You have to leave! Helena will hear you!”

“She’s in the kitchen.” Jenny whispered back. “And I said don’t worry…you won’t necessarily become hairy. That thing that attacked us was hairy, but I consulted with some of the others, and you might just end up looking more like Michael Jackson in the Thriller video.”

    1. Hello helebette, I just wanted to drop a line… this story is absolutely brilliant. I am loving it so much… long live Bette and Helena (if only)… thank you so much for your kind words and oh yeah… YOU ROCK. Sincerely, JC

    2. Hey Hel so happy to read this new chapter and thought is was awesome. Loved how you had the banter between them and then how Helena just let herself go and love Bette and Bette professing her love to her. Now who eyes are they????

    3. “the world’s most annoying voice” Yeah, that’s our Jenny. But I have to admit she’s pretty damn articulate even lacking a jaw. Trouble is: she doesn’t really have much to say and Bette really doesn’t want to hear it. I fear that annoying Jenny might just be right for once. I’m glad that Bette didn’t start growing curly hair all over her body (at least that she can remember), I like it growing just where it does, but if starts maybe she can get a poodle style trim. How threatening could she be then?

    4. Even though Jenny is a Debbie Downer with her constant droning on at Bette to kill herself, I’d still miss her if she were to crumble into nothingness one of these days. I’ve been pondering the hairy wolf problem. Perhaps instead of a horrific metamorphosis into Michael Jackson, Bette could contract a rare hair loss disease that counteracts the standard werewolf excessive hair growth. Of course, the disease couldn’t be Alopecia because that usually leads to complete body hair loss. I would hate for Bette to lose her lustrous curls.

    5. helebette, don’t DO it! I don’t know if my Bette is vampirized or werewolfized..I guess Tina bit her after all…or did she…I WANNNA KNOOOOOW…but she should not do the poodle trim, no matter what funny says, I mean, how many self respecting werewolves would show their faces wearing tufts with little bows? Zeeeero, thats how many. I like rufus’ idea…alopecia is the way to go with a clause that her head hair has to stay.I will prepare that injection as we speak. WHEN is jenny going to crumble into a pile of non annoying, non speaking, non throwing body partS DUST?
