And it Started With a Phone Call Chapter 30

Tina woke but kept her eyes closed as she reached out for Bette. Her mind quickly caught up with reality.

"*****," she said aloud as her eyes caught sight of the clock. "Six a.m. in LA. I don’t think I’d be very popular if I phoned right now. Thank God it’s Sunday."

She heard a knock at the door. She quickly furrowed and relaxed her brow as she pulled a robe on over her pyjamas and walked through the French doors to the sitting room.

"Who is it?" she asked through the closed door as she tucked her eye up to the peep hole.

"Room service, Ms. Kennard," came the voice from the other side.

Perplexed, she opened the door to a young man in a pristine white jacket and black slacks.

"Ummm, I didn’t actually order room service," she said as she looked at the cart, taking in the aroma, suddenly wishing she had.

"It was ordered on your behalf, Ms. Kennard. There’s a note included," he indicated the envelope as she stepped aside to allow him access to the room.

He set a bud vase with a single red rose at the centre of the table by the window. Then he placed the beverage containers, covered trays, dishes and cutlery in the appropriate spots and started making his way out of the room.

"Just a minute," she said as she went to the nightstand for her wallet.

"The tip has been taken care of," he said with a broad smile. "Enjoy your breakfast." He closed the door behind him as she reached for the envelope.

The simple piece of stationery was scripted with a stranger’s writing.

"I can’t wait to see you. I wish I could deliver this in person. Love, Bette xoxoxo"

The phone rang on the end table beside the small couch.

"Thanks for breakfast babe," Tina answered.

"What – not even a hello?" Bette replied with a smile.

"What are you doing up so early?" Tina asked as she started lifting tray lids from the plates.

"We always have breakfast together on Sundays," Bette said. "It’s a habit I’d like to keep up."

    1. The sharing of breakfast was very sweet. It’s these sort of little traditions that give a relationship have depth.

Nice to see that Alice figured out what made her so angry with Bette asking Tina to move in. Understandable, no one likes to think they’re losing their best friend. Plus, it’s always lonlier when you aren’t the one in the relationship.

“Go with your heart Bette”. Best advice she could have received.

Loved this little departure. Nice set up to the reconnection.

    2. Awww!! My heart filled with warmth on Bette sending Tina breakfast, then there was laughter with the notes, and back to the warmth with the romance. Sigh this is just so amazing! Thank you for sending me off to bed on what usually is a dreadful Sunday night on a happy note :) Now I’m looking foward to your rendition of a good Sunday night

    3. i just dont know what to say. weve got such freaking sweet with breakfast shared together. to al and bette being the dear friends they are to freaking hilarous. to sweet again. gawd this was great. its showing your range again jks. please as soon as y ou can. thanks.

    4. great story – love the aggressiveness of Tina in previous chps! Hope Bette comes up with a really romantic way to ask her to move in – she is such a romantic sometimes!! look forward to next chpt and the reunion after NY trip.

    5. Thanks for the installment. I think Bette should have the house totally set up for Tina’s arrival. I am interested to see how romantic our Bette can be.

    6. I am really enjoying your story. Thank you for the “sappy” stuff, that’s what life is made of or at least makes it happier. Even knowing they end of up together, I am still hooked on every chapter, so keep ’em coming.

      Peace right back atcha.

    7. Fins, what a fun chapter! I saw that coming with the notes and was laughing before Bette even knew what was going on. I hope you have a good week and you let us in on how Bette does it soon! You Rock!!!!!

    8. I could just see the mortified look on Bette’s face. I bet she WONT be writing down anything “talkative” for a while…LOL…..thank God for paper shredders.

    9. How sweet it is for Bette to share breakfast with Tina?!
How funny it is to have Alice discover Bette’s “notes”?!
How good was the advice Alice gave to Bette to go with her heart?!
Can’t wait for the next chapter!!!

    10. I LOVED this chapter. Special moments and rituals in couples are so important… and Sunday breakfast is such a good one. :) I love it when the woman I love is always in my head…

Bette being so to remember exactly on the note pad & trying to get it back was so vivid and FUNNY… just plain funny. Thanks for this. : )

    11. Loved this….so much! I have this sense you test yourself with some of these scenes to see if you can pull them off – well, you can!! Keep it coming and we’ll all just keep reading!

    12. I just started reading this at the weekend and I had to literally tear myself away from my computer but as soon as I woke up I’d be back to read the rest of it.

This story is amazing, it has made me fall in love with FanFic all over again. I love the way you write, I can’t remember the last time I actually had to look words up because I wanted to clarify the meaning so I didn’t lose anything.

I was smiling and laughing out loud as I read each chapter. When I saw that you’d written the next chapter I almost jumped out of my seat with excitement.

It’s gonna be hard for me to think that this isn’t what happened between Bette and Tina in the beginning.

Thank you soooooooooo much for this. Okay, I’m off to read the next chapter now.

    13. At first I thought the page held those romantic doodles where you combine your name with your lover’s. Wrong!

Bette Porter in love is a wonderous thing to behold! Love looks good on her. I can hardly believe she is using the ‘L’ word so freely!

Your B&T are so clear! Sunday night should prove to be smooth sailing!

      Thanks!

    14. It’s been my experience to go w/ your gut, it never leads you down the wrong path. If she rationalizes it too much, she’ll end up sounding too logical. If she listens simply to her heart, she’ll be completely romantic and not add the touch of logic she needs to have Tina agree. Her gut will always guide her best.
