and it wasnt a dream (IV)

It wasnt like with Alice, Al took care of her, she was in charge, she always was but she knew that Alice wanted to know, wanted to understand, wanted to talk. And Tina was not ready for that.
She knew that something happened with Shane, Al mentioned something but Tina didnt listen that much during those first days. And now, having her arms around Shane she was feeling guilty. She forgot about Shane during those first days, she knew something was going on with her Hollywood wife as Al called it and she didnt even care to ask. Its not like you Tina, she thought. You better take care of your friend now.

Shane felt Tina looking at her and blushed. She hated that she did but it was nothing she could do about it. She was not going to let her feelings for Tina ruin their friendship.

What happened the night before could not happen again. Nothing really happened but she felt something she didnt want to feel again. She felt complete. But she knew that Tina was Bettes wife and she was not going to be the one breaking that relationship.

Dana was lying in bed, besides Alice. She was feeling silly, she wanted to turn around and hold her in her arms but something inside was stopping her. Something in her stomach was telling her that maybe she was not ready, that or that awful mayonnaise sandwich she ate at the club. That made her remembered Lara. How easy it was with her, she just felt like kissing her all the time and even when she didnt do it so much in public she didnt doubt about her feelings, not once.
But with Alice she was scare. She was afraid she could lose her and just the idea of losing Alice for good was making her unable to express her true feelings.

Alice was looking at the ceiling, lost in her thoughts. Where was Tina, where did she go? And where was Shane? She didnt want to think about Bette. After their talk at the Planet she knew she needed to get her friend some space. She was still surprise by her own reaction. She loved Bette and the moment she saw her, so thin, so pale, so lost she wanted to hug her but something inside stopped her.

Are you ok Al? Danas concerned made Alices heart jump with joy. It was that, those simple words what made Alice loved Dana. She was her friend and if only god help them, her lover soon.
But most important, Dana was all the strength she needed to go on and face the mess that was around them. Her world was falling apart, her friends, the most important thing in her life were a mess and she needed to be there for them and the knowledge that Dana was there for her made her heart melt with love.

Bette was trying to drink the coffee that Kit had made for her. It was burnt and cold and that , if only for a moment, made her smile slightly. There was no doubt that cooking skills didnt run in her family.
She looked up feeling Kit staring at her, smiling.
    “U feeling ok?”

Bette didnt know how to answer to that. After spending the whole night talking with Kit, she was feeling better but as empty and lost as before.

Kit didnt give her the sweet treatment. She held her but told her what she really thought about it all. It was almost as hard to explain to Kit what she did with Candance as it was thinking about telling Tina. But after lots of tears, Kit told her something that was still stuck in her memory.

if you love her, and if you know, if you really know that is over between you and Candance, dont tell Tina about this last time.

Bettes look in her face made Kit continue talking.

She will forget you. She will forget that you cheated on her. It will take time but you know her, she loves you, she adores you and as much as she hates you now, she knows that its only a matter of time before she starts to forgive you. She just needs time to heal, to get back to herself, to be strong again.

Listening to Kit talking about Tina only made Bette to started sobbing again.

she is the most caring, generous person I know Bette was talking in a whisper, her words barely escaping her mouth, she was saying them like a prayer, she was trying to get comfort from them.

    yes she is
Kit was looking at her sister, caressing her arm.
“But she is not a fool Bette, she wont let you hurt her twice and if she knows you cheated on her again, as much as she loves you, she will move on and she wont look back”

Bette was nodding, her tears were quiet now, she was holding Kits fingers in hers.

Am sorry to say this baby sister, but Tina is the stronger one. She just let you think you are, she knows its important for you to think you are in control. But you broke her apart, you broke everything she gave you and now she needs to find herself again.

Kit finally left at noon . Bette called in sick, she didnt feel like working, she wasnt ready and she was still afraid of jumping into Candance. She knew that she didnt want to sleep with her again but that didnt mean she wasnt lusting for her. It was killing her not knowing how to control her body. She loved Tina and was willing to do anything to gain her back but she also knew that she was lost around Candance. She knew that she needed to do something, to find out why was she feeling all that.
She wanted to ask Tina what to do, it was something she use to do all the time. She realized that under all that confidence she was the one that was always looking for Tina to help her out. It was Tina the one that at the end made things easy and simple. It was always Tina the one that saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thinking about all that made Bette realize that she had to do something that was not going to be pleasant, something that just thinking about it was making her feel sick, something that was going to be the first step in the hard journey that was going to be to get Tina back in her life.
It was hope what made Bette reach for the telephone.
