    Angels watching over me

Leigh was extremely pleased with how James had managed her business affairs. In just over three months he had negotiated lucrative agreements with several galleries to show “Heart of Glass” which was the name of Leigh’s collection. He hired Rosemary Harkin one of the top Curators specializing in glass sculptures to be the curator for the shows and working with a private and corporate art consulting firm he was able to organize several venues to display Leigh’s classic renaissance art copies which she didn’t normally show.

Leigh, James, Bette and Lisa worked with Rosemary or Rosie as she liked to called to develop an innovative marketing and publicity campaign that would generate sales and provide Leigh’s work the exposure it deserved.

Having James and Bette to help with decisions, business opportunities, and contract arrangements guaranteed Leigh a higher level of success than if she’d tried to do this on her own. She was very grateful to both of them. They had put their reputations on the line for her and it turned out that the art community had been very receptive. They were expecting a successful first showing at CaramelART Gallery in Carmel, California.

Rosie worked with Leigh to sort through the entire collection and together they made decisions on the pieces that would be displayed. Rosie had a great eye and knew what would be most appealing to the discriminating clientele. Rosie also wrote the printed material that would accompany Lisa’s photographs in the publicity pieces and explanatory catalogs. Leigh provided her bio and they placed it with a very attractive studio quality portrait and information about the upcoming exhibit on the gallery’s website.

As the Artist in Residence and Art Professor at CU Leigh was uniquely qualified to not only show her works but she was also able to conduct workshops and offer lectures on the techniques used to create it. This information was included in the promotional material that was distributed in a variety of mediums. Bette and Leigh had flyers put up at CU promoting the workshops, lectures, and the upcoming show.

Now that the pieces to be shown had been selected they had to decide how to display them and the order in which they would appear. There were a few pieces that would be on permanent display and others designated for special temporary exhibitions only. Rosie was ultimately responsible for the safety of the pieces so she oversaw all the construction of the display showcases to make sure they were sturdy.
