    Army Wives

The UN Hall was completely full. Ambassadors from every country around the world occupied the seats while interpreters for each country translated for them in their native tongue.

Jenny sat in her booth waiting for the meeting to begin. She was the interpreter for Israel. Ambassador Kel was still walking around greeting other ambassadors who spoke Hebrew. She picked her mic and in Hebrew instructed Ambassador Kel to take his seat. He heard the instruction from his ear piece and moved to his seat. The room started quieting down.

The American ambassador, Ambassador Stevens, took the podium and everyone watched him carefully.

"My fellow countries," he started just as the soft murmur of the interpreters translating began, "there has been rebellions all around the world. A guerilla has been formed deep in the jungle of Columbia and little by little they are spreading their influence. The smaller countries have already broke out into Civil Wars and some have already fallen.

"The bigger countries are going strong but we are running a big risk. I’m sure you all know this because the majority of your countries are fighting this battle. The American military intelligence has determined that if any one major power should fall to the control of the guerilla there is nothing that can stop a World War 3.

"For this reason I am here petitioning for a preemptive strike. We hit at the heart of the organization in Colombia, as well as take back the countries who have already fallen. This is the only way to keep the peace around the world."

The murmuring grew louder as the ambassadors discussed their feelings on the topic.

The British Ambassador said, "honestly I don’t see how a group of rebels can take one of the super powers who are advanced in military. To me this seems like another fight against Communism and invading Colombia is like another Vietnam War."

    Murmuring began again.

The German ambassador spoke to his interpreter who spoke out loud, "the last two wars have been purely the fault of my country and I refuse to let our country fall to shambles again. Germany is in full support of this plan and offers it’s services."

The argument continued for quite sometime. Some countries ignored the obvious threat of the guerrilla, some countries who had fallen begged for help, some countries remained neutral, and some countries joined forces with America and Germany to start a preemptive strike.
