Bette was even more captivated with Tina after talking to Kit and it bothered her. She knew she shouldn’t have been so fascinated with someone who wasn’t her girlfriend but she undoubtedly was. God help her, she was.
Bette was also bothered by the fact that she had yet to listen to Tina’s demo. She was piled with work and hated that Kit had the chance to listen to Tina’s sweet voice. It didn’t help that Kit made sure to emphasize how amazing Tina sounded.
Bette’s phone rang from somewhere under the mess of papers and the brunette let out a frustrated sigh as she tried to find it. She found and answered the phone just as it neared it’s last ring, not bothering to look at the caller id.
"Bette Porter"
"Hey baby, where are you?"
"Hi sweetie, I’m at work and completely swamped. Can I call you back? I’m really busy" Bette sighed again, squeezing her eyes shut and pinched the bridge of her nose as she felt the start of a headache.
". . . You forgot didn’t you?"
Bette’s eyes widened as her head snapped up and she silently mouthed, "oh shit"
"No baby, of course not"
But she did, hoping that Ava didn’t hear the lie in her voice. Bette completely forgot about meeting Ava and their friends at The Planet, a restaurant / lounge Kit solely owned.
They were all supposed to have dinner and meet Ava’s cousin who was in town from Wisconsin or something. Bette wasn’t really listening since Ava decided to spring the news on her a few days ago while giving her an orgasm. Bette agreed to a lot of things she wasn’t happy with that way. Along with manipulation, trickery was also a top on Ava’s list of specialties.
"That is such bullshit, Bette. Don’t lie to me"
Bette sighed, "You’re right, I’m sorry. It completely slipped my mind and I apologize but I promise I’ll be there as soon as I can"
Happy that she was getting her way, Ava’s voice became much more cheerful, "Okay babe. Oh! Kit said to check your cell"
"Kit’s there?! What the fuck? Why did she leave without saying anything?"
"No idea, she’s talking to Helena who’s . . apparently hitting on my cousin. Ask her when you get here, I’m gonna go see if I can play matchmaker. See you soon, baby"
Ava hung up the phone before Bette could say anything, leaving her alone with her pile of paperwork once again. With another deep sigh, Bette sorted out the important papers that needed her attention before leaving the studio and heading to The Planet.

Excellent start. Bette needs to leave Ava, simply to see that she can be alone (for a while, anyway). Not having her girlfriend’s support to pursue other interests, even if it winds up misfiring, is not good. Bette (and anyone in that situation) can do better. I’m really looking forward to more of this story. Thanks, Liah! :)

i hope tina is ava’s cousin. can’t stand ava. yucks. and bette should have more backbone. little admiration here for her at the moment but i’m hanging in there.
Please continue, great start, except for Ava. Please give Bette some backbone to dump Ava. Hope it is Bette’s house they are living in so she can tell bitch ava to pack her sh** and get out. Very interesting beginning, like the music aspect, no art galleries, no CAC. yay.
