Jack: Anyway, I decided to come back for you because I felt that it was not fair to take somebody elses life with me, I wanted to go down I wanted to die and I didnt want anyone else to die in the process with me.
Tina: How admirable of you a criminal with a heart!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack did not retaliate she was right to feel that way; he has hurt her and now he wants to make amends.
Jack continued. So I got out of the car and came to where I saw you laying, I checked up on you and found you breathing and with a faint pulse, I dialled 911 and left you there, I got into my car and drove off. You have to know that I would not have left you there if I wasnt out of my head, I was scared that the police would finally catch up with me and I would end up behind bars.
Tina: What makes you think that you wouldnt? I can go to the police right now and tell them everything you told me, and see if you can get away with this time?
Jack: Tina I know that you can do that but listen to the rest and then make your judgment. Anyway the ambulance came they carried you away and I followed them to where they took you, I slept in the car for the night because I didnt want to cause anymore accident, and to get over the drugs and alcohol in my system. The next day I drove home took a shower got shaved and came back looking for you at the hospital. I had to find you to save my own skin but the nurses there they would not have let me anywhere near you if I wasnt a family so I told them your name and that you were my wife, you know I heard you say your name when I asked you about when you you know. Yes I know Jack Tina said.

I sat next to your bed for days not moving, only to go to the toilet or to grab a bite, in case you said something out of place and the doctors would get suspicious and I would end up in prison. While you were sleeping you kept calling out Bettes name and saying CAC or something, I thought they must mean something to her so I decided to find out who this person was and what was CAC. Your treating doctor told me that you were suffering from loss of memory and that you needed a lot of time to recover, I thought this was it, this is my chance to get her out of here before anyone calls looking for her, I wanted you out of the hospital as soon as possible so that I could disappear back again into my woods, so I asked the doctor if you were well enough to leave and he told me that what you needed the most was rest and bed to help you get over the trauma and in time your broken bones would heal. I asked the doctor again if you could be discharged into my care and he said that he couldnt see why not. So I made arrangements paid the hospital bill and got your discharge letter from the doctor, and when you were ready to leave I wheeled you out of the hospital feeling relieved as if a heavy burden was lifted of my back.
Tina: So you kidnapped me?
Jack: If thats what you want to call it then yes I did, but what choice had I got? I was a bad boy.
Tina: And what makes you sure that you are not one now?
Jack: Look Tina I know that what I did was wrong, all of it, but since youve come into my life I have changed believe me I have. You and the twins mean everything to me, you are my whole life, you are my only family and without you I dont think I can live. But hang on Tina, let me finish what Ive started, I need to tell you about Bette. Tinas eyes widened and she was all ears.
Jack: I told you I wanted to find out about Bette and the CAC. You were still at the hospital then so I called the operator not knowing what was CAC and asked her for the number and she told me that it was California Art Centre. I dialled the number and asked about Bette pretending to be interested in buying artwork. I was told that Bette was the manager of the CAC and not just any worker there, and that she was not available, and when I was asked for my name I hung up the phone. The next day I went to town and picked up the local newspaper to see if anyone has seen the accident or noticed anything about me, I found a small article about it but the woman who reported the incident could not see my face or remember any details about me.

She was horrified now, this man has so meticulously thought of everything to cover his tracks and to get away with murder, well almost, who is this man???? Oh my god I have trusted him and invited him and slept with him, and all along he was hiding all of this from me, and oh my god now I share the most precious thing in the world with him oh my god oh my god. Tina started to panic and it was showing on her face. What is she going to do? What is he going to do? Surly he would not want to part with his children; My children and I cant be with him, oh my god. She jumped of the sofa but Jack got hold of her and sat her down.
Jack: Listen Tina, listen, I know what you are thinking, but please listen to me I have more to tell you sit down please. Well its about Bette!!!!!! A month after your accident I saw your picture in the paper; you were standing next a tall woman with dark hair and tanned features. The woman was launching an appeal and was asking for any information about you and your where abouts, she even hired a private detective to help her with her search, but he couldnt come up with anything to help Bette. She also pointed that you were her partners and that youve been together for 7 years or so. I kept this newspaper too; here it is if you want to read it. Jack handed her the paper Tina took it of him, and started to read it with tears in her eyes.
Tina: My baby, my poor baby, she been looking for me everywhere she must have been going out of her mind with worry, and you, youve kept me her all this time and well hidden form her and the rest of the world, Why Jack, my god why? And what now Jack? What now?
Jack was upset and he started to cry too. He got down on his knees and grabbed hold of Tinas saying please Tina Please forgive me, I have been a bad bad boy, I deserve all the punishments, please Tina tell what do you want me to do and Ill do it just dont shut me out. He was crying bitterly now, oh how sorry he was, he never wanted to hurt Tina like that, he never meant to take her away from her life and her love, but he was a desperate man and wanted to stay out of prison. All he wanted was a family and for someone to love him even if it was for a while, he was a lonely, lonely man and his past affected all his life. But now he has changed, he has. He no longer deals with drugs or anything illegal. Since Tina entered his life he vowed to himself to turn his life around completely and now he no longer wants his old life. He was a changed man and he was a good father to his children. Jack was sobbing, please just dont keep me away from the twins, they are my life Tina, please I beg you. I promise I will make it up to you if you let me. I dont want you to leave me Tina, I love you and I love my babies please Tina?????????!!!!!!. Tina couldnt take much more of this, she got up and went upstairs and locked herself in the bathroom. She needed to think, she needed to reason and to put things into perspective. She was definitely going back home to Bette, and she was definitely taking her children with her, and she was not interested in anything else right now. Jack has to pay for what hes done, yes he has been nice to her and since she knew him he acted like the perfect gentleman, but his heart was twisted and rotten to the core, and what he did does not justify the means, he has to pay. She needed time, a lot of time.
Jack was standing outside the bathroom, he started tapping gently on the door urging Tina to come outside so that he could talk to her and plead his case. He still had things to tell her and he could not put it to rest until he unloaded all. Tina was very upset and angry and she did not want to see his face right now or hear anything lese that he has to say, but she worried that the situation might get out of hand and Jack deciding to use violence to get her out and about waking the children too in the middle of the night. She opened the door, avoided his eyes and went downstairs. Jack followed her back and sat on the far end of the sofa.
Jack: I accept whatever judgment you pass on me Tina I know I deserve it. If you decide to leave me, I am going to help you to get back to Bette and to put your life back on track with her. I will not interfere with any decision you make with Bette concerning our children; all I ask is to be part of their lives and to have a free access to them, I do not want to go to court for the obvious reasons, I do not want to fight you on anything, I told you that I have changed I want to open a new page and I want to carry on with my new life, the life I stared with you, with or without you, but with my children in my life. You can take your time to think about this and when you decide Tina, I will be ready to fulfil all your wishes, just try me. I going to donate all the money that I made from my illegal dealings to a childrens charity of your choice. I want you also to rest assure that I will provide for my children because I am going to look for an honest job, I am not going to leave them as a burden on you. Tina I know that you want to go back to Bette, I know that because your heart has never belonged to me I felt this and can feel now too. I am ok with this, I really am.
Tina: Jack you have to know that I love Bette; I never stopped loving her, even when I lost my memory she was still in my head and in my heart. When I slept with for the first time it was her face that I saw, not yours, I also saw her put this ring on my finger not you Jack, not you, yes I didnt see her face then, but I knew it was her my great love who did that, it was Bettes hand and her slender fingers, that I was sure of. Jack I have started to piece the picture together long before you have decided to come clean to me, I was just biding my time, and waiting for you to own up, and because of the twins. You have hurt me and hurt a lot of people in your life Jack, and maybe you have hurt yourself and damaged your life a lot more than you did to others, but you should not have made it worse than it was. You could have gone to the police and confessed, and got a light sentence. Or you could have left a message to Bette at the CAC and told her where to find me, but no, youve decided to make the situation impossible and took the law in your own hands, what do you except me to do Jack ha? Do you want me to tell the police about you? Do you want me to hand over the father of my children to them and blame myself for it?? What, what is justified Jack tell me? There is Bette too, what do you think Bette well do if she finds out, do you think she let it go and forgive you for kidnapping her wife? Did you think of that Jack did you??
Tina was furious again now and was hitting Jack and screaming at him, she wanted to vent all her anger on him, and all her frustration, she has been lost from Bettes and from her real life for longer than 2 years, and Jack made sure that she was kept in the dark. Did you think I was going to love you, Jack? Did you think that by keeping me here all this time that I would change my mind and choose to live with you? No way Jack, No way. I am going back to Bette and I am taking the children with me, and I dont care what happens to you Jack I really dont care. I am not going to the police and I am not going to tell anyone what youve done, I leave all of this to your conscious. I am not going to take a revenge on you Jack this is not like me but I want you to tell Bette everything you told me and let her make the decision, she can decide your future, this is the only punishment I want to pass on you, so it really is up to the Bettes mercy now.
Jack just sat there and listened to her, he wanted her to get all her anger out. She could still change her mind and turn him to the police herself, so he was not going to encourage her to do so by arguing with her, his life was in Bettes hands now and he has accepted that.
Tina: I need time to sort myself out and to sort the twins too. I will not rush it not yet Bette will still be there, I will have to prepare the children for this big upheaval and for their new life with Bette and me, this will take time, meanwhile you have to do what youve promised Jack, you know with the money, and with a new job, oh and before I forget, you are sleeping in the spare bedroom from now on, got that Jack??????? Jack looked at Tina and knew that she meant every word she said, he was not going to say anything else tonight, he was feeling really tiered, so he got upstairs and went to the spare room and dropped on the bed like a lump and went to sleep.
