Bette I am home
Chapter 1
Tina started to run out of the door, leaving Bette crying behind her and begging for forgiveness.
Bette: please Tina, I love you, please, dont leave me here on my own I will die without you. Tina please
Tina: I love you Bette, but this is too much, I need to get away from you it hurts so bad.
Tina was gone and she felt so empty, and her heart was breaking
Tina carried on walking as fast as her legs could carry her, and now her walking became, and she was actually running. She passed a woman walking her dog, she took no notice or her but the woman noticed her. She was crying and her vision became a bit distorted. She kept on going and not knowing where, all she wanted was to be as far as possible from Bette, deep in thought she did not notice the speeding car behind her. Moment later she was lying on the side of the road motionless and hurt.
A car struck her, and oh she was in pain and she was cold. The woman she passed by earlier saw what happened to her and started running towards her to see if she could help he, but she stopped in her tracks when she saw that the car which struck her was actually reversing to the scene of the accident. Fearing that the driver might be drunk or out of his head on drugs she stopped and made herself busy with the dog while observing everything from a distance. A man got out of his car and walked to where Tina was lying on the side of the road. He knelt down and put his ear to her mouth to feel her breath, she was saying something, and he could not make since of it. She was calling someones name somebody called Bette.
Jack: what is your name please can you hear me?
Tina: Ti Tina Ken Tina Kennard, and I live . oh
Jack: dont say anything else, just stay still I am going to call the emergency services, dont worry.
Jack dialled 911 from his cell phone and told them what had happened but he did not leave his name, as he was scared of the consequences, and oh God he did not want to go to jail, so he drove off. On his way he saw the ambulance speeding down the road towards where he left the woman. He was so relieved and thanked God that the woman was still alive. He decided to drive slowly to let the ambulance pass and then follow it to the nearest hospital without arousing too much suspicion.
Moments later he parked his car near the emergency department and sat there for a long time. It was getting dark and he wanted to know what was going on with this Tina Kennard. He did not know what to do. So he went inside the hospital and approached the front disk.
Jack: excuse me miss, I am her to see Tina Kennard, could please tell me where I can find her.
Nurse: may I ask your name please?
Jack: oh yes I am Mr . Mr Kennard.
Nurse: very well sir, Mrs Kennard is in the intensive care unit for now. The doctor thinks she might have suffered from loss of memory, sustained form her injuries, so he wants to keep and eye on her. She also has broken ribs and broken left arm and have some cuts and bruises her and there. Nothing major, only she is in an induced coma for now to help her heal.
Jack: when can I see her please?
Nurse: you can go and see her now, but try to be quiet and do not wake her up.
Jack followed the nurse to where Tina was lying. He could not believe what hes done and now to top all up he pretended to be her husband. How am I going to get out of this, he thought to himself, and what if she wakes up and remembers everything that happened to her. What if she remembers who she is, and who is Bette? Jack started to panic.
Nurse: here she is Mr Kennard, and please remember not to wake her up.
Jack: thank you miss, thank you very much. Jack was still shaking in his boots.
He walked towards her bed and sat on the chair nearest to her head. Jack then decided to stay with her for the night.

Bette woke up with a throbbing headache she needed a cup of coffee badly. She went to the bathroom to freshen up and was shocked to see how ill she looked. She had bags under her eyes and the mascara run down her cheeks and made her look like a zombie.
Bette: oh my God what have I done, I must be utterly crazy, what the fu
She ran herself a shower and washed and scrubbed her body until it was red raw, she was so exhausted, but needed to wake up so that she could think straight.
Bette: Tina are you awake yet?
Bette forget for a moment what took place the previous day and hoped against hope that Tina was still sleeping in her bed. She shook her head and fluffed her hair and once again she realized that Tina was gone. She was aching inside out with no one to comfort her. She made herself a strong cup of coffee and sat down and sipped it gently rocking herself back and forth.
Bette: please Tina baby call me I am waiting for you (she talked to herself) I will be here when you decide to come home. Please baby call me.
The phone rang it was from James at the CAC.
Bette: yes James, what can I do for you?
James: Bette are you coming to work today?
Bette: I will be in later, has Tina called me?
James: sorry Bette but I thought that Tina was with you!
Bette: oh well we had an argument and she left last night.
James: I am sorry Bette but she did not call.
Bette: thank you James, Ill see you later.
Bette put the phone down and decided to call all the friends she knew to ask if they have seen or heard from Tina. The answer was no. Bette was worried, she rang all of Tinas friends, and she got the same answer.
Bette: where is she and why hasnt she called me yet? She was going out of her mind. She went to her bedroom changed into her clothes grabbed her handbag and left the house to go to the CAC. When she got to her office she checked for messages but there was only the business ones. This is not what she wanted. She walked to her office and after a minute of two there was a knock on the there she answered it with her head buried in the paper work on her desk.
Bette: please come in James what, what is it?
Candace: hello Bette. Bette looked up and was amazed to see that it was not James.
Bette: hello Candace, what can I do for you?
Candace: I came to apologize for all the pain I caused you. I heard from James what had happed and I cant help but wandering if it was all my fault I am truly sorry.
Bette: Candace, it is not your fault, I am to be blamed for it all. I should not have been tempted. I should not have looked and desired the grass on the side of the fence. I had a perfectly wonderful one on my side. I am sorry if this is going to cause you any pain because you know that we cant be together. We cant be more than friends. I am so totally in love with Tina. I do not want anybody else. It was my problem and I should have worked out with Tina and myself. Now it is too late. Tina is gone and I am devastated. Candace you have to understand that it is not you. It is all me. You are a lovely woman and one day you will find your soulmate, and I have found her, and lost her and now I have to look for her. I hope and wish to God that she will be back in my arms soon because I cant live without my other half. Candace was in tears. She knew deep in her heart that this woman was one of a kind and she was sorry that she would not be hers. She knew that no matter what happened between them, Bette never belonged to anyone but Tina, and now she has to leave the room never to look back. Bette walked over to Candace and wiped her tears of her face with her gentle touch and gave her a last kiss on her cheeks.
Bette: Goodbye Candace, thank you for being in my life and for helping me to open my eyes. I wish love and all the best in life.
Candace: Goodbye Bette, I was very lucky to have met you, and I do hope that Tina comes back to you soon you deserve to be happy, and loved.
Chapter 3
Tina: Bette Bette.
Jack: hello sweetheart, you are awake, welcome back, you had me worried about you.
Tina: who are you? With a puzzle on her face.
Jack: its Jack your husband cant you remember me?
Tina: where is Bette, I need Bette.
Jack: dont worry I will take care of you the doctor said that you might suffer from temporary loss of memory but I will nurse you back to health.
Tina: where am I, I dont remember anything, and why is my arm in a cast?
Jack: you are in here because you were hit by a car and were brought in by an ambulance. You have a broken arm and broken ribs and you have some cuts and bruises but otherwise thank God you are fine.
Tina: do you know who did this to me?
Jack: we are not sure yet the police did not inform me of anything, but dont worry I will take care of this.
Tina: how long have I been here?
Jack: youve been here for 2 days and now that you are out of your coma I think it is best if we went home so that I could take care of you, and dont worry you will be as good as rain.
Tina: thank you Jack I am very grateful that you are here. Jack was so happy that Tina was such an agreeable and gentle person he thanked his luck stars for a narrow escape. He went to see the nurse in charge to ask if it was possible to take Tina home
Nurse: well not just yet the doctor must examine her and if he thinks she is strong enough to go home we will then release her into your care, just wait a minute and I will check if the doctor is free to come and see her.
Jack: thank you thank you very much. He went back to talk to Tina and tell the news.
Jack: Tina the doctor is coming to examine you first and then we can go home I am sure youll be more comfortable in your own bed and in your own house.
Tina: I think so Jack, yes I would like to go home thank you. Tina wasnt sure if she knew this kind man but she had no other option she cant remember anything from her past, not yet anyway, and where else can she go.
The doctor came to see Tina and asked Jack to stay during examination if he wanted. Jack shook his head and went out of the room to get himself a coffee. Tina was surprised by his reaction surly if he is my husband he must have seen it all before, well maybe he is shy, she turned to the doctor and told him that she was ready.
Minutes later Jack came back with the coffee still in his hands.
Jack: how is the patient doctor, is she fit to go home?
Doctor: yes she is well enough to travel but you have to make sure she does not do any heavy work for a while and she mustnt get upset because that might delay her recovery and dont worry her memory will return to her in time, just rest rest and more rest.
Jack: thank you doctor and I will make sure your orders are carried out, thank you very much for all your time.
Do you hear this T.. no heavy work and going to the gem, only rest.
Tina: yes Jack I heard the doctor thank you. Tina had a flash back someone has call her T.. before, but it wasnt this man, it was a softer voice and oh yes I am sure it was a womans voice.
Minutes later she was up and dressed and sitting in a wheelchair waiting for Jack to come and wheel her out of the hospital, he has to sign the release papers.
Jack: are you ready sweetheart?
Tina: yes Jack.
Jack: ok then lets go home.
Jack wheeled Tina slowly out of the corridor into the lobby and to the front door where he parked his car and felt so relieved that finally hes taking this woman home and no one knows what he has done.
Chapter 4
Bette was at the gem. She felt that she needed the exercise to get her mind of her problems and of the disappearance of Tina. Tina has not called and no one has heard from her.
Bette: Where could she be? Oh my God I am going out of mind here it is so unlike Tina. She has always called to let me know where she was even if we were fighting this time not a ward. Bette was talking to herself and could not concentrate.
Bette: look Al I cant do this, I am going to take a shower and sit down in the lounge with a cup of coffee, see you later.
Al: Are you ok Bette is there something I can do to help you?
Bette: No Al thank you I will be fine, see you.
Al: bye Bette see you later take care.
Bette walked to the lounge ordered her coffee and sat down. She decided to read a magazine while waiting. She walked to where to basket was and it was full of fashion magazines, home improvement, and cookery magazine, but what caught her eyes was a newspaper that was curled up at the bottom of the basket. She emptied the basket of its content and picked up the newspaper, it was the local one. Gently she replaced all the magazines back in the basket and walked back to where she was sitting where her coffee was on the table already. She started to flick through the paper and there in the corner of the 3rd page was a small article about a car accident, she read through.
Bette: An eyewitness reported seeing a blonde woman, running down the street late on Friday night. The eyewitness was walking her dog. She noticed that the woman was very upset and that she was crying. In her description she said that the blonde woman was about 55 and was wearing a brown jacket. The eyewitness reported seeing a speeding car driving towards them and moments later the car veered to the left the driver lost control and hit the running woman knocking her down. The driver did not stop there he managed to move the car back on the street and drove it backwards where the woman was lying on the ground obviously hurt. He got out of his car and knelt next to her and then got out his cell phone to dial a number. The eyewitness did not approach the man in case he was dangerous and stood back watching him. The man then drove off. Only then did she go to see the person lying on the ground. She saw the ambulance lights flashing and was sure that someone was going to take care of this woman so she left the scene of the accident. The next day the eyewitness called the local newspaper and reported the incident.. Bette could not read any more, she was totally shocked she turned the paper to the front page to see the date on it. It was dated a month ago.
Bette: why didnt I see this, where was I the day the paper came out and why why why? She had thousands of unanswered questions.
Bette: Tina oh Tina I am so sorry, it must be her I know it is her. She picked her bag and ran out of the door. She jumped in her car and drove to the nearest hospital. She parked the car and walked to the reception area.
Bette: excuse me nurse could you please tell me what happened to Tina Kennard and where I could find her. I believe she was involved in a car accident a month ago and was brought to this hospital only I did not hear from her ever since.
Nurse: May I ask who you are and what is your relation to this person.
Bette: I am Bette Porter and Tina Kennard is my wife. The nurse was not amused to hear what Bette said.
Nurse: Sorry Miss, but you are not a family member and I cant disclose any information to you.
Bette: I told you Tina is my wife, my wife what is wrong with you. Bette was very angry and now she was shouting at the nurse. A doctor heard the commotion and came to find out what was the matter. He put his hand on Bette shoulder not knowing who she was.
Doctor: excuse me Miss can I help you with something? Bette turned round and said I should hope so, oh my God is that you Oliver? Please Oliver you have to help me. Oliver was one of Bette very good client and he bought lots of art pictures from her museum. Oliver took her gently by the arm and showed her to his office.
Oliver: Sit down Bette and tell me the story from the beginning, would you like a coffee? Bette sat down and shook her head to the coffee, she was very upset and tears were rolling down her cheeks. She started to explain to him and it all came flooding out of her.
Oliver: I am so sorry it had to come to this I will try and help you find Tina but I cant promise I shall be successful. It is a patients confidentiality issue but me being a doctor I will use her file as a case study in my research and that way I will not be jeopardizing my position here. Go home now and I will come to see you at 7pm, and Bette please try to calm down we will sort something out.
Bette: thank you Oliver, you dont know how much this means to me, I am very grateful and I will apologize to the nurse for shouting at her. See you later bye for now. Bette drove home with a heavy heart, and a defeated spirit. When she got there she notice few cars parked in her drive, she opened the door and was greeted by Kit, Al, Dana, Marina, Tim and Jenny, they were there because they were worried about her and wanted to hear news about Tina, only she did not have any.
Bette: Thank you you guys for your support and love, you truly are my family, but at this moment I do not have any news about Tina and I really would like you all to go home. You have done more than enough and I appreciate everything you have done and still doing. Right now I need to be on my own to think and when I need you I will call to let you know. Thank you. Bette left them in her sitting room and went to her bedroom and shut the door behind her. She dropped on her bed and moved to Tinas side and started to cry bitterly. She must have slept because when she wake up it was 6.30 she started to panic she must get ready Olive will be her in 30 minutes. She got, up washed her face, changed her clothes and brushed her untidy hair. She looked at her watch, Olive will be her shortly she said to herself and she heard the knock on her door.
Bette: Come in Oliver oh I am so glad to see you.
Oliver: I am afraid the news is not good Bette!
Bette: Why what happened is she dead, please Oliver you must tell me everything. Sit down, please.
Oliver: There was a patient by the name of Tina Kennard, she did have an accident and she suffered from broken ribs, arm and some cuts and bruises, but she also suffered form a loss of memory. Now we do not know how sever her case was but we are hopeful that she will recover completely.
Bette: Where is she Oliver where is Tina?
Oliver: ah that is what is disturbing me the most Bette, a man claiming to be her husband, Mr Jack Kennard, spent 2 days by her bed side sleeping on the chair, and when she was well enough to go home she was released from the hospital to his care. He did not leave an address or a phone number so we do not know where he took her. Bette could not believe her ears she was furious and angry at the neglect of the professional staff at the hospital.
Bette: Why didnt anyone question his identity, and why why didnt anyone take his address? Oh my God where am I going to find her now and how with so little information to go on, how?
Oliver: look Bette this is a job for a private detective. I will get in touch with one of my friends in the force he is good, very good. I am sure he will not rest until he finds her dead or alive. Meanwhile you have to keep a positive attitude and try to busy yourself with other things. I will need a photo of Tina from you. We can print and article in the paper with a picture of Tina and you together urging people to call if they know any information like that eyewitness who reported the accident, and who knows maybe just maybe someone will call to tell us some news. I dont have to work till tomorrow night I can stay with you and sleep on the sofa, and maybe if you are good I can cook you a meal, I am sure you did not have anything to eat all day, right?
Bette: Yes Oliver you are right, and thank you for your kind offer, I do hope you are a good cook. Tell me what you need and I will try to find it for you. You see Tina is the domestic goddess in here and I am the hopeless one but I can open a bottle of wine if you care to join me let me just look for the corkscrew.
Oliver: Ok Bette just the one I am not very keen on wine, I am a beer man.
Bette and Oliver managed to make a meal out of pasta and tomatoes and had ice cream for desert. They both sat on the sofa and were sipping on their wine each to their own thoughts, watching the flames from fire and getting warm by the flames. Bette started to yawn and soon was on her way to her empty bed dreading the night alone. She made sure Oliver had all the bedding he needs for the night and she bid him and goodnight and went to sleep

Nice angle. Very diffent – but god. As t-boz said the more chapters the better. Cannot wait for an update. Post soon.
I love this, especially the multiple chapters all at once. Please continue, and the longer, each post, the better. Great story.
Interesting. But honestly, if you had a patient in a hospital that lost their memory and then discharged that person into the care of someone without checking their ID, I think that both Bette and Tina’s family could sue the hospital, AND contact the police, because really this guy that hit Tina has basically kidnapped her. So, I think a call to the police, rather than I private detective is in order. Just my thoughts.
I know that some imfornation should be asked for. Hell that sounds like kidnapping to me. what is going to happen to Tina. Lets call in the FBI.Local want be able to do much. Like the way you did the chapters.
Hope this guy isn’t some crazy fella… man get Tina outa there.. hurry Bette..!
