Eric: “Bette Porter, wow, you look fantastic. I love the longer hair much better than the cropped look.”

Bette looks up upon hearing her name. She almost swallows her tongue when she see’s Tina’s ex.

Bette: “Eric….oh my God! It’s a….It’s been so long since I’ve seen you.”

She tries not to mention Tina as she knows she’s the reason for their breakup.

Eric: “It’s great to see you. I hear you’re with the CAC now.”

Bette: “Yes, yes that’s true.”

Eric: “Well, it’s just awesome seeing the both of you, just out of the blue.”

Bette wrinkles her forehead questioningly, “The both of us?”

Eric: “Yeah, you and Tina. I saw her here last night. We must’ve talked for 15 minutes. Surely she told you….it was almost like old times.”

Bette is smiling nervously trying to play off her anger, “No, actually, she didn’t.”

Eric remembers his wife waiting for him, “*****! I’ve got to go. It was nice seeing you and tell Tina to call me sometime.”

Bette waves as he enters the elevator. She walks towards the hospital exit mumbling to herself, “Yeah….I’ll be sure to tell her, you *****.” She is fuming by the time she gets into the car. Her cell phone rings, she flips it open, “Bette Porter.”

Tina: “Hey, babe where are you?”

Bette is pissed and Tina can hear it in her voice.

Bette: “I’m on my way home. We need to talk. See you there.” She hangs up without saying “bye” and whips out of the parking lot.

Chapter 13

Bette speeds home through the busy LA afternoon traffic, cursing each and every other driver on the road, “Learn to drive, *****!” It has been a ***** day and she feels it. At home she flies up in the drive, slams the car door, and stomps into the house. Tina greets Bette, “Hey babe.” Seeing Tina and feeling her betrayal , causes the fight to well up inside of Bette.

Bette: “Guess who I saw at the hospital? Eric.”

Tina:(nonchalantly) “Really?”

Bette: “Yeah, why didn’t you tell me you talked to him, last night?”

Tina senses Bette’s anger and feels she’d better explain, “It was like 5am when we got home. You were tired and upset. I didn’t think it was a big deal. I was going to tell you this morning, but you left before I even got out of bed.”
