    Bette’s Dilemma- The Meeting

    Tina

Her meetings over for the day Tina walked back to her office to gather her things. She had been able to successfully keep her concern under control while dealing with the immediate needs of the current production but, now as she walked across the lot they rushed to the surface once more. She had been sure that Bette would have called her by now, even to leave a message, but no call had come through to her cell. This in itself told her that things had not gone well for Bette this morning at the university. Tina had lived life long enough to know that somethings would never change in a person or may only change slightly and Bette had always retreated from intimate contact with others when things went bad; most often the retreat had been the furthest with her. Well I guess this is going to be the real test then isn’t it ? came her inner voice. She didn’t expect Bette to call and be a shattered mess but would she call at all? Would she let her in? Would Bette truly consider this their plan if she had to use it.

The intensity of emotions her inner voice’s statement had created within her almost blinded Tina to Jenny rounding the corner just in front of her, looking none too happy. With seconds left before Jenny saw her Tina ducked quickly behind one of the stacks of crates near Studio C and prayed that Jenny was heading where she suspected-to Kate’s office, that would allow her not to have to explain to an obviously irrate Jenny why she was standing where she was. A deep sigh escaped Tina’s lips as she watched Jenny heading in full diva mode toward Kate’s office.

Nice move Tina, very professional, hiding behind wooden crates. "Shut up. I don’t have time for this shit" Tina responded to the taunts of her inner voice; walking out from behind the crates she arrived at her office. Only after she had glanced at the phone on the desk, browsing through the messages none of which were from Bette did she realize how much she had been anticipating and hoping for one.

Quickly gathering her things and glancing at her watch Tina headed toward her car and home.
