Tina sat crying for a few moments and was trying to talk herself into pulling it together. She knew that she had to go out and tell her friends what was going on, but she also knew that she would have to face Jodie. The hardest part of the whole situation is that it was somewhat private, very undefined and Tina did not speak sign language, so there was automatically a barrier. As she wrestled with her emotions, the nurse that Dr. Miller had given instructions to came in. The nurse could tell that Tina was quite distressed and kneeled down to talk to her. “Tina, do you want me to ask one of your friends to come back and help you?”, the nurse asked. Tina said “yes”. She thought about it for a minute and although she deemed Shane the most diplomatic and grounded, she knew that she should ask for Kit. Kit, being Bette’s sister should be the first one to receive the information about Bette’s condition and could also help Tina with telling their friends and Jodie. Tina responded to the nurse “can you ask Kit Porter to come back?” The nurse said “yes, of course I can, wait right here”.
After a few minutes Kit hurriedly entered the empty area where she found Tina sitting alone in a chair with her head in her hands. Kit immediately hugged Tina. Although somewhat startled, Tina embraced the hug as the first notion of support around this she has had. The nurse re-entered the room with a chair for Kit to sit in and placed it right upgainst Tina’s. Kit sat down and exhaled heavily “Well girl, here we are. So what did you find out about my baby sis”? Kit looked anxious as she waited for an answer. “Bette has some broken bones and they are checking for internal bleeding. She is banged up pretty bad and has some stitches in her face and arm. She is going to be ok Kit. The doctor said she will be ok. Her hip might be fractured and she needed surgery to re-set her leg and look at her hip. I saw her briefly. I talked to a her a little bit. She understood what was happening Kit. She is ok. She knows that she is going to be ok. She said she was scared and she said that she didn’t want to leave me with dealing with Jodie. Oh my god! Jodie! I have to go and talk to Jodie!”. Kit said “Slow down Tina. Let’s think this through. Let’s come up with a plan of what we need to do to support you and Bette. I thought I would get called back here as Bette’s next of kin, but the girls mentioned something about a power of attorney. Is that old paperwork Tina?” Tina said “Kit I asked Bette about it directly and she told me it was not old paperwork. I have not seen the actual document itself, or the date of it, but I did question her about it. I asked her if she was sure that she wanted me to take responsibility and she said that she did. Because of that admission and the paperwork in place, Dr Miller shared the surgery details with me. Kit I hope you aren’t mad at me. I know this must be really awkward and shocking. I mean the campfire last night, it was so tense and now this. No time to digest anything, I am just really sorry. It is really important to me that you know that Bette and I were going to tell you. And our friends. We did not want to hurt Jodie and we wanted to wait until after the bike ride. The bike ride was a tribute to Dana and not about any drama that Bette and I were having. In no way did we want to take away from that”. Kit listened and said “Well girl, I am not surprised. I don’t know what else to say. You guys are adults and you were together, you have a child together, a history together. Bette never was over you. She always loved you. Tina, I am not mad at you. You are a grounded and kind person, you are just the one that I want watching over my precious baby sis at a time like this”.

Oh dear. That hallway is likely going to feel simultaneously too short and a mile long to Tina… facing Jodi in that situation is going to be hard. But it has to be done. The thing about personal disasters is that they throw everything into chaos, there’s a lot to worry about, but I think Tina’s got a pretty good support network. Post soon! Thanks

Tina should have taken Shane with her for support, I don’t trust Jodie and Tom for one minute. Jodie has a bad attitude right now and Tom will go along with jodie and whatever she wants to do or say to Tina, not a good situation for Tina to be alone in. Hopefully Shane, will get up and go with her without being asksed. She is always very protective of Tina and rightly so because she thinks of Tina s a mother figure for her. I really think Shane should be with her. Really do like this story. Thanks for posting so soon. PPS
I’m with danity,Take Shane. Tina should not be with Jodie and Tom by herself. I just dont trust Jodie. IT was Bettes wihes to give Tina the P/A. so they should obey her wishes. thanks

I just caught up with this story. Tina has been placed in a difficult situation but one that she can handle. Tina is one of the strongest of the women on the show, her compassion for all the other women and of course Bette is deep. My only wish is that jodi leaves on her own so that Bette can begin to heal with the help of her family and lover/true partner.

sorry for talking bad about jodie i just dont love her at alll. great chapter poor tina shes got to much to handle and dont have bette by her side, i wonder if they flow bete to l.a hospital after her surgery or something.
I don’t like stories where characters are killed off. I don’t wish that on Jodie. She deserves some small symbol of respect from Tina. However, I don’t trust Jodie or Tom either. I think Shane should jump up and run after them as a show of support for Tina. I think Tina will find the strength she needs to let Jodie in on what’s happening to Bette. It wouldn’t bother me, though, if Jodie just graciously faded out of the scene after Bette gets well or after surgery. I’m loving the daily updates to this story. I’m intrigued, so please post soon! That’s my two cents! Great job.

I think you are right about not being too hard on Jodi and that comming from me is saying something because I am Tibette all the way. I hope Tina is able to stay strong I know Jodi is hurt and angry but she needs to understand that Tina did not do this all on her own Bette made a concious decision to be with her. I am sure she knew that Bette was never going to be truely all hers. Please do not let Jodi be too mean and nasty to Tina either I know they will not be friends after this but at least let them both be adult about it for Bette’ sake. PPS
I never thought I would enjoyed reading a dram but this one is very interesting.I don’t like Jodie in a relationship with Bette but I don’t want her dead either. Can we trust Jodie? NO I don’t trust her at all. Poor Tina no worry you’ve got your family and your true love you will have to help heal and learn to be a family again?Can we have a daily updat please?
