“Hey who was at the door before?” Alice asked Gabby, walking into her bedroom. She was soaking wet, and had just a towel wrapped around her body.

            “Oh, just your neighbor asking if you had their mail.” Gabby said.

            “Oh, what did you tell her?”

            “That you did not. I hope that was the right answer?” Gabby said flashing an innocent smile at Alice.

            Alice kissed Gabby. A soft little ‘hello’ kind of kiss. “Of course it was.” Alice said taping Gabby on the nose and going to go get dressed.

            Gabby was not sure why she lied to Alice. Dana was the journalist best friend and she was sure that Alice would find out that she lied. But Gabby did it any way. Maybe it was because the tennis player disliked her so much. Gabby knew that none of Alice‘s friends liked her, but Dana was the president of the ‘I hate Gabby Devaux’ club. And well that just did not settle with Gabby well.

            Shouldn’t Alice‘s friends like her a little, or at least show that they could be in the same room as her? But they did not; they all showed their dislike for Gabby, without fear of hurting Gabby herself, or Alice‘s feelings. And that made Gabby jealous.

            Gabby was not a jealous person. She always made people jealous, but her self was never jealous. But Alice‘s friends made her jealous. She was jealous that Alice had friends that loved her so much. She did not have that. Gabby was pretty sure she ruined any chance with Alice by lying right then. But Gabby hoped that this would be like the other times. That Alice would say that the neighbor really did stop by. And that made her forget that Dana had also.

            Gabby really wanted to change, but change is hard. And well Gabby was never good at change.

            Dana was still debating telling anyone about what she saw at Alice‘s apartment. Maybe it was a one night thing, but deep down Dana knew that with Gabby Devaux it was never a one night thing. It was a month of hardcore *****, and whatever else Alice and Gabby did. Then Alice would cry because it had all ended.
