    Bette responds to Jodi

    Chapter 12

    Bette spent most of her morning thinking. She loved how understanding Tina was this morning. She tried to gauge where her heart truly lies. She was sure that she’s not in love with Jodi anymore. And Tina’s act of support this morning by not pressuring her to open up is something that Bette greatly appreciates. She doesn’t want to live in the past anymore. She needs to fully move on. She has Tina now. And that’s what and where she wants to be. Tina has her heart now. And she realized that finally, her heart has healed and was able to love someone else. Someone named Tina Kennard.

    Time to face the music and keep moving forward. Bette thought. She opened her email and sent Jodi her reply.

    Jodi,

    I am doing well. Thank you for asking. There was a reason why I never wanted you to tell me what you just did. I guess one of them was that I didn’t want to hear from you what I wanted to hear so badly last year.

    I am sorry, Jodi but I have moved on. If you told me this a year ago, things may have been different. I am changed now. I am not the same Bette.

    I now have a chance to make a life with somebody else. And I really want to give it a try. I want to give her my all. I would not lie. You broke my heart when you left. I thought I would never love again. But I guess, over time, my heart healed and has now loved again.

    I am sorry if I can’t give you what you want. I wish you all the best and I do love you, Jodi, but only as a friend. I hope we can always be friends. You will always be someone who’ll be a part of me. And I thank you for that.

    Bette felt that a huge weight was lifted from her shoulder. She is finally free. And she needs to make things right with Tina. She was sure that Tina was confused if not hurt by how she clammed up. Bette called her favorite florist and had flowers delivered to her favorite girl.
