    Previously on Brief Encounter…

     

    Bette (I chuckled):         Don’t worry it’s just a scra…

     

    Girl:      Look out!!!

     

    I turned around and the next thing I knew was Shane screaming my name.

     

    …………

     

    I looked up and pulled the girl to the side of the curb and practically threw myself in the process as the car swerved to the opposite side.  I blinked and stared at the girl who was now on top of me.  I held her tight thankful that she’s ok.  We’re ok! 

     

    I saw Shane running to me and a few others. 

     

    Bette:   Are you ok?  (I checked her face for any more scratches)

     

    Girl:      Yeah I’m ok.  Thank you! Are you?

     

    I could feel my arm hurting but that was it.  Everything felt ok.  I smiled.

     

    Bette:   Yes, yes I’m ok.

     

    Shane:  Bette!  Are u ok?  I didn’t see the car coming.  (I nodded)  Are you sure?

     

    Alice:    Bette!  Are you crazy? 

     

    Bette:  Crazy, no.  Hurt, a little maybe but nothing I couldn’t stand.  Here help this girl up.

     

    As I tried to stand up I felt someone holding my arm helping me up.  I turned around and there was Tina; looking very worried.  She hasn’t said a word.  She was just so careful about helping me, and so serious that I had to let out a giggle.

     

    With that everyone looked at me surprised but Alice.

     

    Alice:    You are crazy.  You’re hurt and you’re laughing.  That’s just nice Bette!  You could’ve been killed!  What is wrong with you?

     

    Bette:  Al!  I’m not hurt ok?  I’m fine!  And can we just check if that girl’s ok?  She’s the one who got hurt.

     

    Alice:    I’m just, concerned ok?  Is that wrong?

     

    I smiled and gave her a peck on her cheek.

     

    Bette:  I’m fine Al, seriously.  (Looking at Tina)  Thanks Tina.  I just need to check on the girl.

     

    Tina:     Ok

     

    She was just sitting there on the curb checking her arms and knees from the accident. 

     

    Bette:  Hey are you ok?  Do you need to go to the hospital?  We can give you a ride.
