Can the Tide be Changed? – Part IV

Bette was sitting at table with Angelica, Alice and Kit.

“I assume you want your usual weekend order to go baby sis?”

“Yes, I don’t know what I’d do without Lara.  Maybe she should start a gourmet baby and children’s meal business.  I’m sure there would be plenty of takers in L.A.”

“That’s a great idea and don’t you even think of mentioning it to her… well not without The Porter sisters going in as partners.”

Alice took out her Palm Pilot and wrote down a note.

“So are you going to take Angelica to the beach this weekend?  You in a bikini, Angelica being her cute self, it’s a winning combination, I’m telling you Bette, you wouldn’t remain dateless for long.”

“Nope we’re going to an exhibit at LACMA and the La Brea tar pits.”

“Geeze Porter I can tell you’re the fun mom.  Don’t worry Angie, Aunt Alice will take you to Disneyland and Sesame Street on Ice.”

“I’ll have you know that Angelica loves going to the museum with me.  Don’t you boo?”

“Cookie Mosta, Cookie Mosta.”  Was Angelica’s emphatic reply.

Kit smirked, Alice laughed until Bette flashed her one of her notorious looks.  Alice gave Angelica the thumbs up sign when Bette turned her head to say hello to Lara who was approaching the table with a large bag of prepared food.

“That’s my cue.  Thanks Lara.  Put it on my tab Kit.”

“Hey, Kit, can I run a tab?”

“Don’t do it Kit.  She’ll never leave and she’ll never stop drinking caffeinated beverages.” Lara shook her head and walked back towards the kitchen.

Tina hung up the phone.  “Are you sure you don’t want a massage?”

Shane flashed back to her day spa experience with Veronica Bloom and shuddered.

“I’m sure.  You’re not getting one of those chemical peels are you?  They’re killer Tina, don’t do it.”

“Don’t worry Shane, it’s some type of herbal antioxidant facial and an hour long deep tissue massage.”

In between Tina’s facial and massage she had the spa luncheon.  Shane had the waitress who served drinks by the pool.

Tina rolled into Bette’s driveway at 7:48:09.

“Thanks for coming with me Shane it was good to see you.  I know it wasn’t exactly your speed.”

    1. With out Angie in their life now. they would Hey and be on their way. Bette would be being the party girland Tina being Ms. Susie Homemaker with some one else and both being misable. thanks

    2. Goddammit, Lamentamini, I’m even older than Bette and you shouldn’t laugh at your elders. We come from a time when people used complete words. We also walked to school (one room) 10 miles barefoot in the snow. Gave the school marm an apple every day. Damn kids, as my father used to say. Madcapper, I think Noxema’s worse than the chemical peel. But seriously, folks. Yet another nicely done portrait of the crew. Awaiting your next chapter here and the next WeHo West installment.

    3. Now, I like this story. At least with this one there is hope that Bette and Tina can get back together. I love how Tina shared time with Shane and got her to open up some. As you said in the chapter that they are the outcast. Both of these women hopefully can return to being part of the gang again. Great chapter and I hope that you post soon.

    4. I just read funnyone’s comments. Alright for the older ladies. I too am older than Bette. Yeah, that walking 10 miles in the snow was harsh. Oh yeah that’s right I went to school in Florida and Hawaii. I guess that it was the bright sun shinning down that caused the walk to school to be so painful.

    5. Lovin this. Its moving along just right. Good that Shane is opening up, she always was better with Bette and Tina. Easy on the age thing, guys. I’m older than Bette but not by much, and theirs still alot of codes I haven’t figrured out. Course it helps to have teenage nephews and their girlfriends to fill in the blanks. Looking forward to Wednesday’s dinner.

    6. Liked the moment when Angelica hangs on to Bette while Tina is trying to take her from Bette’s arms. Brings them into close proximity…Would you say that without this child they would have little chance of reuniting?
