Alice had asked Shane to meet her at The Planet at 9.00 am. She would have rather Shane told her it was too early than make her wait. No-one makes Alice Pieszecki wait!

‘It’s 9.15, where is she?!’

In saunters Shane, hung over, with a ditzy blonde in tow. Shane whispered something to the blonde and joined Alice at the table alone.

Not one for pleasantries “You look like shit” Said Alice.

“Thanks” Shane rubbed her temples, “If it’s not bad enough I drank my own body weight in alcohol last night, but this girl won’t leave me alone! She’s giving me the worse headache.”

Alice gave Shane her ‘you made your bed now lie in it’ look. “Where is she now?”

“I asked her to go get me a.mocha iced..lemon snap..cappuccino shot thing.”

“Shane, that’s not even a real drink.”

“I know, it oughta keep her busy for a while.”

Alice laughed ‘This girl never ceases to amaze me’

“So what do you want anyway?”

Alice was disgusted, “Can’t a friend simply invite another friend for morning coffee without there being some other motive?! I mean you could at least-”

“Ok, ok.so how are you Alice?” Shane decided to interrupt before her rant made her head explode.

“Very well THANKS for asking.”

Shane gave Alice a questioning look. “Come on Al, spill.”

“Well, it’s about tonight”

Shane had been planning a party at Milk for months now for Tina’s Birthday. She even called in professional decorators and caterers and everything. For Shane to bother to do that, it means it’s a huge deal.

“Do not even THINK about saying you’re not coming.” Just the thought made Shane sit up straight for the first time that morning.

“No, I am, I mean, I don’t, it’s just”

Shane flopped her head back down on her arm. “Let me guess.Dana?”

Alice didn’t reply and found the laces on her Converses suddenly interesting, meaning Shane was right.

“I’m only saying this once more” Shane looked straight at Alice “You guys are single, young, hot and totally into each other. It’s about time you did something about it. Dana’s too shy and you’re too stubborn. One of you has to make a move and if it’s at the party tonight then it’ll turn out to be an even bigger success. Stop making such a big deal out of it!”

Shane left the table to get herself a drink that was actually on the menu, leaving Alice in her thoughts.

‘It is a big dealit’s Dana’

After finally losing the blonde girl to the ‘family emergency’ excuse, Shane made her way home to have a couple of hours sleep before preparing for the party.

Just as she got in the phone rang. It was Dana.

“Hey Dane” Shane rolled her eyes, she knew what was coming.

“Erm, is Alice coming tonight?”

“Yeah of course, why’s that?” Shane was grinning from ear to ear. She loved these guys. But boy did she love to torment them as well.

“Oh, just wondering really, you know, if she’d said anything..about me?”

“Well she did ask if you were going.”

‘Score!’ Thought Dana.

“And she said she’s looking forward to seeing you.”

Now Dana was grinning.

Shane pondered ‘should I? shouldn’t I?…..oh fuck it’

“And she said she hopes you’re not going with anyone.”

Shane winced, awaiting Dana’s reaction.

“Well alrighty then! Things to see people to do, I mean, things to seeok, well then I’m gonna go get ready!”

Shane really battled to keep her laughter in. “But Dane, it’s only 10 in the morning.”

“Well you never can really be too prepared now can you?! Seeya Shane!”
