Bette persisted, and the muttering of protest grew louder.

Bette sighed, straightening up, still holding Angelica against her chest. She glanced into Tina’s bedroom for some enlightenment.

Tina sat quietly at the edge of her bed, having already changed, but staring off into space.

She wanted Bette here, yes. She won’t deny that. But if they took this further, everything would stop being about reigniting their romantic relationship and return to being about their failed marriage.

    Failed.

    God, she hated that word.

Fail. To lose strength; to fade or die away. To stop functioning. To fall short. To be or become absent or inadequate. To be unsuccessful. To disappoint the expectations or trust of others. To miss performing an expected service or function. To be deficient. To leave undone. To weaken.

    To fail. Neglect.

    Fail.

    She hated that word.

But lately its meaning seemed so fitting.

"I tried to put her down, but she won’t let go," Bette said softly, approaching the blonde.

Tina turned to her. "Yeah, she does that sometimes."

Bette smiled weakly, and sat down on the bed, placing Angelica in the middle of it.

Tina smiled to herself, and glanced over her shoulder at Bette. "There are clothes that might fit you in the closet, unless you would prefer sleeping in the buff, which I don’t have any problem with, I just hope Angelica won’t experiment with other possible sources of nourishment."

Bette narrowed her eyes. "You’re making fun of me."

"What?" Tina asked innocently, glancing down to Bette’s chest, with a wicked smile. "I could feast on those forever."

"Tee," Bette said in an almost-whining manner, knowing if Tina continued this line of thought they would be giving Angelica fodder for therapy.

"Well, we clearly can’t pick up where we left off now," Tina indicated where Angelica slept in the middle of the bed.

Bette looked at Tina. "I have an idea."

Tina frowned. "I don’t think we can be that quiet, even with those double doors between us."

Bette laughed. "No… well, yes, but no."

    "What?" Tina asked, laughing.

Bette grinned mischievously at her. "How do you feel about the possibility of pneumonia?"

    "Not a fan."

    "How about getting wet?"

    1. HEY TIFF I HAVE THREE WORDS TO SAY ABOUT: ” LOVE THIS STORY” IT SOUNDS LIKE WE MIGHT HAVE A R-RATING CUMING OUR WAY.KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK THIS STORY IS SUCH A JOY TO READ!

    2. There seems to be some issues left between these two. Bette coming to the realization of slowly closing Tina out of her life without her knowledge and Tina’s fear of failure. Both have come a long way and I hope that they continue even if they do make it to the pool.

    3. Just love the interaction between Angelica and her Moms! Looks like the two Moms still have a lot of insecurities to get over. Hopefully, they’ll get there some day and truely be a family again.

    4. pool, shower, water balloons fight? anything will work for me…this story always makes me smile and laugh and cry and feel…thanks…angie is such a cutie and her love for her mamas are precious

    5. After some rough times, I’m starting to read fanfics again, i’ve just finished your last 3 chapters, and girl, you’ve got me hooked again. Love your stories, thanks.

    6. Hey! I want this to be season 4….If only, but I can pretend, right? Amazing history, amazing chapter, as always. A humble reader and loyal fan.

    7. Just great. I liked Bette’s realization that she had perhaps taken over their home before with her personality and tastes. But what’s up with T??

    8. Man, if I were Tina, I’m not sure I’d ever leave the front porch. She’s got women grabbing her from every direction. And then Bette can’t get the kid to let go. OK, Duke, you go and be all cryptic over there (sounds like an interesting neighborhood), but where in the world is pneumonia considered sexy?

    9. I think this story has taken me through every basic emotion. But this chapter was just warm and fuzzy with Angelica holding onto Bette for dear life. And of course Tina falling through the door was classic. lol
