Change – Chapter 60
CHAPTER SIXTY
Bette kept her promise to Tina’s mother. As soon as they had a wedding date, they mailed Nicole Kennard to let her know. Planning the wedding was a lot more work than any of them could ever have imagined, so they were glad that she was there to help them.
Of course Tina’s students had noticed the beautiful ring on their teachers’ fingers and had interrogated her as if they were the Spanish Inquisition. Tina hadn’t wanted to tell anyone at first, but finally she gave in – after telling some of her colleagues about the good news. A lot of students were surprised when Tina announced that they could call her Mrs Kennard-Porter in a few months. Some of them had asked her why she didn’t take her husband’s name and let hers drop, as was custom. That’s when the hardest part came – no students knew of her sexuality, at least not officially. When she told them she’d be marrying a woman, a lot of them were surprised.
There was the occasional teasing and she did overhear some guys’ conversations that just made her stomach turn, but she didn’t say anything about it, they were teenagers after all. Most of the girls were just glad that Ms Kennard was no competition anymore; never before had Tina realised the amount of secret admirers she had.
One day, Bette had picked her up because she had a surprise for her. Bette received a lot of stares, even though the students tried to hide their amazement. When they got to the parking lot, Tina had given Bette a simple quick kiss as she always did, forgetting completely about her students or colleagues. Afterwards, some guys’ conversations made her stomach turn even more, but most of her students were very nice and friendly.
In the meanwhile, Bette and Alex had talked after Alex had confronted Jack with her feelings and what she suspected. It appeared that Bette had been right – the assistant was absolutely crazy about Jack and still believed it could work out, despite his many warnings. He ended up leaving the company altogether because he wasn’t enjoying New York, just like Bette wasn’t. For Alex, it didn’t really matter where she lived.

So sad that this story has come to a end, but what a great ending, maybe an epilogue? Like their 30th anniversary or something.. hahaha, show that they haven’t lost their fire even 30 years later!! =D Please continue to write, thanks so much! PPVS! =))
Aww… It’s over. I’m sad it’s ending but it was an fitting conclusion. Thanks for sharing this with us, Genner!

Thanks for such a great story.
Thanks for the ride, Genner! I enjoyed every bit of it.
Sad to see this wonderful story end. Enjoyed it so much and always happy to see a TiBette story so full of love and respect between “our girls.” Thanks so much for bringing us a wonderful love-filled story.
Lovely story! I totally agree with you. Ilene Chaiken gave B&T too much drama. This is more refreshing! As I can’t bring myself to read unfinished story of B&T just yet, I sit out till I saw you posted the last and read through till this. Love the eloquence of Bette and the sensibility of Tina. Don’t be too long (as to time frame not length of story) with the next though. ;-)
