    Chapter Nine

When the doorbell rang, Bette took a deep breath. She expected it to be Emily, that beautiful and stunning girl that miraculously was on the same emotional wave-length as she was. The girl was attending her school for two weeks now and she couldn’t take it any longer. She had avoided ms Kennard so Emily wouldn’t get suspicious, but she couldn’t take it any longer. She had to speak to the woman that was always in her mind, she had to see her as much as possible. Emily must have noticed how her patience had been decreasing more and more as the days passed and Bette knew her friend was worried.

She hurried downstairs to open the door and involuntarily gasped at the sight. Emily looked great but simple. She was wearing a bermuda – probably one of her brother’s and a simple white V-neck shirt.

“You alright?” Emily asked, the worry clear in her piercing blue eyes.

“Yeah, sure,” Bette smiled. “Come in.”

Once they were upstairs, Bette was hesitating again. Was it a wise idea to tell Emily about her feelings? What if Emily wouldn’t talk to her anymore? What if she would lose this great friend of hers? She knew that she wouldn’t – Emily was too great for that – but it still worried her.

“You been stealing Dan’s clothes again?” Bette asked.

Emily shrugged. “He won’t notice it anyway. He’s been able to live without it all term now. Anyway, any reason in particular you wanted to see me?”

Bette swallowed the lump in her throat. “Can’t I just invite you? We do that all the time.”

“Oh Bette – are you honestly trying to fool me? You haven’t been yourself lately, not since I told you I would attend your school. You’ve been acting fidgety and nervous. It’s time you told me why, I don’t want us to have any secrets.”

    Bette blinked her eyes. “W-what?”

Emily let out a chuckle – a very sexy one at that. “Come on, Bette. Just tell me, I’m not going to kill you. Unless you say you’ve harmed my family.”

Bette sighed. She took in the sight that was Emily again. She seemed so comfortable, her legs folded, leaning back in the chair. She had very nice curves and that shirt made her look even better. The cleavage was enough to make curious and generate desire, but not as much as in leaving no mystery. Her black, wild curls were framing her beautiful face and she just had this kind charisma. Sometimes it seemed to Bette that she couldn’t be real, that it couldn’t be that this almost perfect creature really wanted a friendship with her.

    1. Genner, your wonderful story continues to intrigue as well as tease me. I too, long for a meeting between the LGBT staff advisor and president of the club. Perhaps Tina will suggest a meeting now after seeing Emily with Bette in the hall? With the continued recurrence of Tina’s feelings (regardless of the man she’s with), I wonder how long she will be able to deny her strong connection. You’re such a talented writer. Thanks for sharing your gift with all of us. PPVS

    2. nothing for ages, then two in one day?! this is a story that i always hope you’d update on genner please don’t leave it as long next time…i dying to see how it moves along, there’s GOT to be another conversation between them soon, though i am glad Emily has come into Bettes life – she needs to build up that confidence, pps!
