The ride home was fairly silent with Jenny and Shane conversing quietly in the front leaving Alice and Dana in the back, with Alice in the middle seat cuddling into Dana who had her arm around Alice’s shoulder. Shane would look in the review every now again to see how Dana was holding up. Dana was always easy to read, expressing everything she was feeling through her eyes even if she was unaware of it. As much as she loved Dana, Shane had to admit that she secretly took a liking to Alice, knowing that Alice was a good person deep down. Just like Harrison, Shane believed that Alice didn’t break Dana’s heart for selfish reasons but Shane didn’t know much about their previous relationship. The one thing she does know is that Alice and Dana are still very much in love with each other, she just hoped they could get passed the past.

When they finally reached Bette’s they were all silent as they were not sure how the family was holding up. They walked in to realize that Bette,Tina and Kit were already drinking and looked to be a bottle into vodka. Although they knew it wasn’t exactly right, they sighed in relief as they knew that the alcohol would relax everyone and make it all less awkward. Even though the Porters were family, no one knew exactly how to react when a family member of a friend died.

Shane, Jenny, Dana and Alice all got glasses of vodka and coke before filing into the living room where Tina, Kit, and Bette were.

“So, how you guys holding up?” Jenny asked, sitting on the couch next to Kit and Shane, which was across from Tina and Bette’s loveseat.

“We’re alright. This is definitely helping” Bette said, slurring a little while lifting her glass. Her drained emotional state caused the alcohol to have a deeper effect than usual on the usually collected brunette.

Before Dana and Alice sat down on the two separate chairs beside the love seats, Alice announced that she was going to make a call. Dana sat down wondering who she was calling. Does she have someone back home? Although Dana acted as though she was into the conversation being had amongst the group she couldn’t help but try to overhear Alice’s conversation. Unfortunately, she could hear nothing but muffled sounds and chuckles. Who’s making her laugh?!… Wait its good that she’s laughing remember she’s had a hard day…. Actually who cares? She didn’t care if how I was feeling when she left me! Dana tried to convince herself of this but she just couldn’t close herself off to Alice after their connection today. Damn it and damn her…. but seriously who is she talking to!

    1. Finally, with your help, fabutvs26, I can put it into words why I like D. She was “easy to read” which is really a great attribute. No mind games, life would be easier. Unfortunately, lots of time, her insecurity often got the better of her. I hope Shane would keep reminding her and Helena would do the same for A. Great update. There were some tender moments which I find totally sweet. Thank you so much for writing this chapter even though you are very busy. And good luck to you finals.

    2. Great chapter, fabutvs26! I am glad Alice has such a friend in Helena. And I am extra-glad that Shane was there to talk to Dana. I love the Alice and Dana hand-holding. It almost says more than words. I hope they continue to make small steps back towards each other. Thanks!!

    3. its nice that shane is always there to shed some light in Dana’s head whenever she feels insecure or jealous…excellent update…i hope to know why alice left dana in the first place…this is killing me fbutvs26…

    4. Beautiful chapter! I like the way you describe how their interlock their fingers together. So sweet. Looking forward for your next chapter. Thanks and PPS!
