    Chapter 13 – New York

Bette:  Are you doing laundry again?

Tina: I had yesterday’s outfit, my pjs, and my running outfit, and towels. Yeah, I’m doing laundry.

Bette: Yeah, well you have a point. I just thought we might be able to skip a day. But no matter, we will do what we can. Is Angie up?

Tina:  Yeah, how about setting the table.  Oh, Bette, can I borrow some cash from you?  I’ll write you a check.

Bette:  Sure, what do you need?  I need to give Angie her lunch money as well. And I need some myself.

Tina:  I probably don’t need more than a couple of hundred but I would like to have some extra in case something comes up.  Three or four hundred if you have it.  If not, I’ll find a teller machine in New York.

Bette:  You will do no such thing unless someone is with you. New York has improved its safety, but no teller machines at night or without someone to watch your back.

Tina:  Yes, mam!! I usually just go into the bank for my cash. At least if I get mugged, there will be witnesses.

Bette: Well, next week you might want to consider opening up a California bank account. Not many New York bank teller machines in California.

Tina:  Oh my, I hadn’t thought about that.  I need to get a California driver’s license and a residence and this is a voting year, so I’m going to need to register to vote. And we need to shop for me a car and I will need vehicle insurance. This moving involves a lot of stuff.

Bette:  Well, let’s sit down and start a list when we get back. I’ll get that cash.

Bette went into her office and came back a few minutes later.

Bette:  Here is five hundred dollars.  I’ll have the same amount so we should be fine. I also have one hundred dollars for Angie.  That’s double her normal lunch amount. So, she will have some pocket money if needed for snacks or whatever.

Tina:  Are you sure you can spare this?  I don’t want you to be short of cash.

Bette:  No, I have plenty more in my reserve. So, I’m good.

Tina:  Well, thank you. I’ll pay you back when I go to the bank tomorrow. I’ll go before I go to my appointment.  I’m sure I can write a check for the shipping supplies. Oh, I am not taking my laptop. I think my cell will be enough. Are you taking your laptop?

    1. Hey Martha,

I’m just as Tina surprised about how Carrie reacted to Tina breaking of with her, maybe she expected it or she is deep inside happy that Tina was the one to break it of while she wanted it as well, or she was simply shocked as hell and couldn’t react to it’s at that moment.

I can say I’m shocked with how soon Bette and Tina are girlfriends again and even more that they are intimate so soon after Tina broke it of with Carrie, what should be the timeline, a few hours between the talk Tina had with Carrie and having sex with Bette?

I am surprised Bette immediately agreed to be Tina’s girlfriend, what happened with Tina proving to her with actions and other things that she is serious about Bette being the woman she wants? Did she only had to prove it by breaking up her relationship with Carrie, no other things?

Don’t misunderstand me but i got the impression that it would take more than a few ours to get Bette to agree giving Tina a new change, i know they still have to work out but this seems rushed, Tina again jumping from one relationship to another one without working on her issues first.

Saw you posted the next chapter, will read it now.

    2. Sometimes people make decision without thinking about the consequences or what is appropriate or not appropriate. Yes, I think Bette is taking on a lot of risk by being this impetuous. But Bette’s desire to have Tina back in her life has simply jumped in front of her fear that she may be hurt again. Besides, Bette agreed that she would go for an attempt at reconciliation once Tina provided evidence that Bette was the one she wanted. For me agreeing to be one’s girlfriends is not agreeing to attempting a reconciliation. And even in the attempting a reconciliation, there are no guarantees that Tina will get to her issues straightened out.

These two may not take the steps in mending their relationship in a recommended order. But they will go through a process to identify them and come to a reasonable basis to have a good life together. They still have much to talk about and some understandings that they need to reach. Let’s see how this story plays out…
