    Chapter 22

After a leisurely lunch Peggy and Winnie returned to Peggy’s beach front mansion not far from where Helena was living. Winnie checked out of the hotel and brought her and the children’s things to Peggy’s since the older woman had insisted they stay with her for the duration of their visit in Los Angeles which was now extended by a week.

The house staff took the luggage to guest bedrooms while Peggy and Winnie headed to the play room to find Emma, Bette, Wilson, and Jung Yin immersed in a fun art project; at least that is how it appeared on the surface. They were actually engaged in children’s art therapy with the doctor. She was using art and advanced psychology to evaluate the emotional impact of the breakup of their parents and the effect of having lived through the past year or so of the acrimonious relationship between Helena and Winnie.

Although Wilson’s personality was more outgoing and expressive than Jung Yin’s introverted and reserved one they both showed early signs of emotional scarring that if not dealt with now could manifest itself into inappropriate behaviors later in life. Emma assured Winnie and Peggy that with the right treatment the children could be helped. She made some recommendations and referrals for therapists in the New York area for Winnie to call. Emma felt confident that with the right therapy they would be fine especially now that the situation at home had been vastly improved due to Peggy’s intervention. They would need to be closely monitored for changes in their behaviors as they adjusted to the custodial arrangements and the amount of contact they would have with Helena in the future.

After cleaning up the paints, brushes, clays etc. Winnie gave the kids baths then they settled in for an evening at home watching movies, eating junk food, and playing games in Peggy’s massive hi-tech media room on the upper level of the three story mansion. Peggy retreated to her master suite while Emma and Bette headed home to get dressed for the evening’s festivities.

Unbeknownst to Helena an entirely different evening than what she envisioned had been planned by Bette Porter and Martha Wentworth to recognize the honorees of that year’s Peabody/Wentworth grants respectively. Peggy was half-way around the world when she got wind of what Helena was up to which necessitated her giving power over to Bette to act as her proxy. With the exception of the CAC and the WeHo Family and Youth Center submissions Bette had full authority to make recommendations and decisions on behalf of the Peabody charity foundations.

    1. Wow, this is major league chess! Love the way Peggy played the game. But I’m curious what will happen between Tina and Bette. I don’t think that Tina will stay with Helena for long. Helena showed her her true colors and she might turn her rage out on Tina.Thrilling, PPS

    2. Finally ,common sense has prevailed.HELENA lacks decorum, empathy, sympathy and morals. She was so hellbent on destroying BETTE and using a naive but agreeable TINA that she developed tunnel vision, but PEGGY set her straight.Getting the kids proper treatment will ensure that no more harm befalls them thanks to PEGGY,BETTE and EMMA. PEGGY gaveth and PEGGY took it away from the worst kind of being ever born ,human or animal. To lose you legacy for some hairbrain scheme and end up with literally the clothes on your back shows how low you have gone HELENA. You should have quit while you were ahead,oh i forgot ,YOU NEVER WAS IN THE GAME..THANKS,ps.

    3. Shall say it again, Peggy P is AWESOME!!!!! My goodness, Peggy did wreak havoc on helena and her damned plans of personal destruction and I’m so happy she did. Just hope Tina will tell her to go straight to HELL where she belongs. Hopefully Tina will try to maintain her friendships with the girls, after all they were only trying to help and see to her safety and care. So happy that all helenas’ machinations failed and that Peggy was aware from the beginning. So that was why Bette went to see Bruce Cohen when helena denied her grant and she was smiling when she went back to her loft in NYC. I knew she had done something but I never would have thought of this. And helenas’ personal assistant and her attorney as well. were in cahoots with Peggy, Bruce and Bette. That’s what happens when you treat people like caca on the bottom of your shoe. You just can’t do that and expect loyalty and friendship. A lot of people have learned that the hard way, always a bit too late. Happily Tina has learned what love truly is and that she made a huge mistake by leaving Bette. Still holding out hope for a reconciliation I know I’m probably wishing for nothing, and I do not want anything to happen to Emma to bring that about. She is a good woman and I like her, just not for Bette. Thank goodness Peggy loves Bette so much. Thanks for this wonderful chapter. I feel better already and am not in such angst for Tina not knowing what was about to happen. .BAT are you still feeling generous. I know I’m just being greedy now. Thanks for posting. Have a great one.

    4. Well, you started my day in a nice way and now ended it in the same way, Thanks.
I’ve said it before but it bears repeating, I love Peggy!
Bette is lovely pregnant but I so wish the ‘other mother’ was Tina.
Thanks again for the post, please keep them coming :-)
