Chapter XI – Empire State of Mind – Europe, part 2
Bette, Tyler, and Carl Pflanz, a manager of the Luxembourg Freeport, were walking back to the Freeport’s main office after Carl finished touring Bette and Tyler through the areas of the Freeport’s facilities that were completed. Based on everything they’d seen, Bette was satisfied that the Freeport would open as scheduled in September.
Noting that Bette seemed pleased by what she’d seen, he asked with a confident grin, “Now that you’ve had a chance to have a look around, are you still intending to rent the storage unit we discussed several months ago?”
Bette nodded, exchanging a quick affirmative glance with Tyler who was walking next to her, eyes fixed ahead of him, seemingly distracted. He’d nodded quickly at her when she’d turned to him to ask through her glance at him. Carl clapped both hands, and then rubbed them together in satisfaction, “Great! That means we can set up rental agreements, permissions and other details when you return in September. We’ve got a pre-screened list of security transport firms we can recommend, any one of which can handle the transport of your things from the temporary storage unit to the new one. If you’d like to discuss other things now, while you’re here…”
Tyler cleared his throat, and answered him before Bette could, ”Ms. Porter-Kennard and I would like to look again at the row of units where she’ll likely rent, if you don’t mind.”
The manager looked in surprise at Bette, then at Tyler, and then back again at Bette. Bette’s eyebrows had similarly shot up momentarily in surprise, and she looked over at Tyler again. She saw from Tyler’s steady glance back at her that he probably wanted to discuss something privately before they headed back to the facility’s main office.
She turned away from him to nod her head affirmatively at the manager, and with a sweet smile, echoed Tyler’s request, ”yes, please. If you don’t mind? We just want to eyeball the space again, to help me visualize the space. It’ll help me make final determinations regarding what I can and should be considering storing in there!”
They all stopped walking, and stood in a loose circle in the middle of the hall they were crossing. Carl regarded each of them slowly, then finally nodded his head, and glanced at his watch, pursing his lips. He responded, absentmindedly straightening his tie out, ”Very well, but I’m afraid I’ll have to leave you with the on-site manager, when you re-visit the area. He’ll be in that part of the facility, inspecting the lights that will be used to replace the ones hanging in the halls right now, before they’re installed later. Unfortunately, I have another prospective client coming in about 15 minutes, and I want to make sure we have everything ready for his own walk-through.”

Damn! This shit is about to hit the fan! Thanks!
Shit, what will happening.
I’m buckled for the ride.
Don’t let me waiting for too long.
Wow, it appears that Miss Diane has opened Pandora’s Box. Her attempt to help has made a mess that I hope she and Bette can survive. Shady people, gold markets, stolen art, Nazis, damn. Bring it on Sky! PPS
Getting intense. Can’t wait to see what happens.
