Christina’s heart stops for a second. She knows she needs to stop staring, but she can’t pull her eyes away for the person in the doorway. Chris is captivated by these girls dark eyes, dark hair and pale skin. She finally manages to stop staring and breaths. She can feel her face getting flush and hopes no one notices. She watches this girl go up to the teacher and explains why she is there. Chris strains to hear what she is saying.
“My name is Alexis” is all that Chris hears.
She watches as Alex takes the seat beside her. Chris turns and smiles at her. Alex seems not to notice. Chris frowns to herself and back around.
“Get a hold of yourself” Chris says to herself
“Your acting like a nerd. Play it cool Taylor.”
She glances over at Alex only to catch her looking at her. Chris’s faces becomes flush again. She smiles at Alex who nods back at her.
“OMG. She probaly thinks that I am some ***** who can’t stop smiling.” Chris tries to regain her composure.
In her mind she is not doing that well. She wants to get to know this Alexis girl better. Chris knows that this could ruin everything that she has been trying to hide. But her feelings for this girl are overwhelming. She has never felt anything like this before. Sure she has found other girls attractive but none that would make her want to give away her secret.
“This can’t be happening now….. Not this year…. I have worked hard to get where I am.. … Should I through it all away on a girl that I don’t even know likes me…… But she was looking at me……. There is no mistaking this feeling that I have…….. I’m sure she must feel it too…… O.K. I’ve made up my mind……. I have to talk to her.”

Chris turns to Alex. She goes to open her mouth when the bell rings.
