Alice woke disoriented in the middle of the night. She was in pain and that had the benefit of rapidly clearing the cobwebs.
She looked around and quickly recognized the guest bedroom in Dana’s condo. The events of a couple hours ago came rushing forward in her mind and she felt her stomach churn. She quickly extricated herself from the bedcovers and ran to the bathroom. She made it just in time to empty the contents of her stomach into the toilet bowl.
Dana was sleeping lightly on the couch. Sleeping in her own bedroom would put her too far away from Alice in case she needed her in the night. Dana woke immediately on hearing the noise, went to the bathroom door and knocked lightly.
“Al? Alice? Are you OK? May I come in?”
Dana got no response but more gagging noises. She tried to turn the knob only to find the door locked.
Dana, being Dana, had the key sitting on the ledge over the door. She debated for only a second on whether to use it and decided that any privacy issues were overridden by the need to make sure Alice was OK.
Dana unlocked the door and slowly opened it so she would not startle Alice. She was surprised at the sight the greeted her. Alice was staring at herself in the mirror — or more accurately staring though herself.
“Al?” Dana tentatively asked. That broke Alice from her reverie. Alice jerked upwards and drew a sharp breath as all the pains in her body came back to life. She turned to face Dana but could not look her in the eyes.
“I need to leave. I have to get back to Jackie’s. She is going to be so upset with me for running out.”
Dana could not believe what she was hearing. Alice was going back to that bitch? Over her dead body. Dana knew she had to handle this carefully.
Alice noticed the quick look of dismay that crossed Dana’s features before she could control her emotions. Alice was quick to defend her girlfriend. “Jackie is an incredible woman. She loves me very much. I’m not perfect — you know that. And sometimes she gets upset with me. It doesn’t happen often and she is always very sorry. I’m sure it won’t happen again. I really need to get back…” Alice started to make her way to the bedroom to find her clothes. If Dana had any tiny doubt as to who put that mark on Alice’s back, it was gone now.

Actually I think that Dana should take to Jackie’s head with a 2 baseball bats. Great story even through the sadness

Hell yeah!!! Dana to the rescue! Oh man i wonder what the others will think once Dana tells them whats going on. Loved the update, looking forward to the next.
Looking at all these baseball bats ready to go, even the aluminum. MaGoose, you got everyone all rowdy up. On a more serious note, when one relapses with battered wife syndrome, the only thing who could do is to confront her the reality of the abuse. More importantly is to show her that someone other than the abuser is there to support her all the way. The guilt that A had at the moment is not unusual. So far D had shown her maturity being calm and collected in handling this serious situation. Btw thank you for your concern in the sleep dept. It’s ok the weekend is here. I remember in this past early September when fripster and Akiracolorblind were posting really late at night and I would stay up till 4 or 5 to comment partly due to my slow reading & typing speed. So this is nothing as compare to then. I have thought about fripster every now and then and wondering if she is all right after the hurricane. Well, until next time, have a successful trip and good luck with the traveling part!
I can very easily see Jackie saying I love you, and Alicehuffing her breath like a bull, ripping her own shirt off, saying in a very angry voice ‘What the fuck does love have to do with THIS’, and showing her bruised back. And then her saying still in an angry yelling voice ‘HUH’. Alice has known real love in her life. So has Dana. And there were no bruises like this between any of them, ever. With them, there was only friendship, humor, lust, and love. The kind of things that no include loyalty, protection, compassion, and understanding. Get Alice the hell out of this. But get her angry. Otherwise this whole ordeal is just gonna haunt her long after Jackie’s either caught or busted open. Preferably both for Jackie.
AWW!! You gotta love Dana for protecting Alice the way she is. I’ll be glad when she gets a hold of Jackie and put a beat down on her. Well have a nice safe trip and post soon as you can.
Hello MaGoose, you have crafted a very emotional story, Dana is holding up so strongly, showing who she truly is. Everyone thought of her as a shy little girl, but when the kid gloves come off she is out to protect her own. Its going to take all the resolve of Alice’s family to bring her back, as I think more and more what she needs to pull her back is innocence the innocence of her little earth daughter. Nothing can cure the mind and heart like the smile of a child. You are amazing, Sincerely, JC
