Coming up for air – part twenty six
Tina picked up the box and shook it gently, looking up at Bette with a mischievous smile.
“Hmmm, what could it be?” Tina teased.
“Oh, just open it, will you?” Bette said impatiently.
“Geez… you’re in such a hurry… give a girl a chance to take in the moment…”
“Take in the moment when you’ve seen what it is.”
“You’re so bossy….” Tina smiled and gave Bette a kiss to shut her up.
Tina opened the lid and saw the most exquisite silver necklace with a flawless diamond pendant. She lifted the necklace out of the box. The light reflected in the diamond, casting flickers of light onto Tina equally flawless face.
“…. oh, Bette…. it’s magnificent… how?…. when did you get this?” Tina asked virtually hypnotized by the pendant swinging back and forth in front of her face.
Bette watched Tina intently as she turned her face towards Bette in expectancy of her answer.
“I got it for you in London… in this amazing shop in Notting Hill… next time I’m going there, will you come with me? I’ll show you where I got it…” Bette said.
Tina sat up and straddled Bette’s hips. “I don’t plan to let you out of my sight for very long… so if you have to go to London, or anywhere else for that matter, I’ll go with you. I’m done waiting at home… this time around I’ll come…” Tina said in a tranquil voice.
Bette smiled up at Tina and let a single finger trace a line around Tina’s neck where the necklace was meant to adorn its beautiful owner.
“You like it, T?”
“I absolutely love it…. thank you so much, baby. Will you help me put it on?”
Bette took the necklace from Tina, gently letting her nails graze over the palm of her hand. Tina lifted her hair from her shoulders as Bette sat up and carefully placed the necklace in its rightful place.
Bette leant back a little and admired the view in front of her. “Perfect… just perfect…” Bette breathed.
Tina caught Bette’s lips and eased her tongue inside. Deep, possessive kisses followed.
“I thought we were beyond aiming for perfection….” Tina whispered into Bette’s mouth.
“Well, obviously you can’t help it…” Bette returned as her hand found the back of Tina’s head, pulling her so close that speaking became impossible.

That was like, volcanically hot, and at the same time, one of the sweetest things I’ve ever read. …So! The Box of Mystery yielded a diamond. Hmmm. They do say diamonds are forever, and I think it’s as good a symbol as you’ll get for what these two have. Top Ten things to say about this chapter? wow!! Good thing Bette didn’t go for twenty cos I don’t think Tina would have lasted. They were all great, but I like #1, you, everything that is you. That was awesome. Yes I do have a pool, little to cold to use it right now, but hey I heard were having an early spring.

Oh, my friend, hot and sweet, as the rest said. And, of course, so well written. You had me anticipating even step of the top ten as much as Tina was… though I think she probably got more out of it then I did. xD Rings down the line will be fine (whoops, no rhyming! Bad NY!). Delicious. I must say, this was a risky read for me considering how much I despise gooey mushiness (where you can’t even say a word without crying a river)…But, you did it quite tastefully. Well, it was a little dangerous at times. All liquids remained on the hard surface and not in my hand or in my lap and chest. Numbers 6 and 2 were pretty good and of course number 1 was the best. I think that I would have placed her eyes in the top 5 though. You mentioned some that I had not even thought of. I wonder what Tina’s list would have been comprised of.
Show her Bette, show her. Well that was one heck of a top ten list (not one that would make it to David Letterman but pretty good nonetheless). #2 was especially hot but if u don’t post another chapeter soon anker i maky just burst into flames. I don’t know if Tina’s top 20 list about Bette could ever compare to the top 1o Bette just came up with. Gotta love that Porter charm. Post soon!
