Tina was walking around the house hurriedly trying to find something to wear while Bette watched her from the couch. She had a small smile on her face and laughed when Tina emerged ten minutes later in an old pair of jeans and a tank top. Tina was in her fifteenth week of pregnancy and Bette had started to notice a small bulge forming in Tinas lower abdomen. Dr. Wilson had told them that she would be gaining a lot of weight quickly since the baby would be growing very rapidly for the next eight weeks or so and Tina was not having fun with this aspect of pregnancy. She had been complaining all week of nothing fitting the way it used to and Bette just smiled at her and told her she looked more beautiful than ever. Tina had grown a little self conscious at first about gaining the weight but after a few days she was happy and realized it was her baby girl just growing inside her. They quickly got into Bettes car and soon they were heading over to Tinas moms house for her birthday dinner. Nancy Kennard was so happy to be having another grandchild and she had been calling all the time to see how Tina was doing. Tinas sister Lauren already had a daughter who Tina loved very much, but she was surprised nonetheless when Lauren gave birth to her daughter Jamie two years ago. Tina never thought Lauren was the type to want kids and she had a good feeling the pregnancy was not planned, but she was glad that Lauren kept the baby. Jamie was great and Tina absolutely adored her. They got to the house in Brentwood and soon they were knocking on the door to be greeted by Nancy and a friend who helped carry the food and gifts that Bette and Tina had brought over.

Jamie saw Bette and Tina come in and she quickly abandoned what she had been playing with to run over to Tina. Jamie came full speed at her favorite aunt and Tina bent down to scoop her up into a big hug. Bette smiled at this interaction and she saw just how great Tina really was with kids. Jamie had a big smile on her face as Tina carried her into the living room to greet the other members of their family. Lauren came in and gave Bette a hug and congratulated her on their pregnancy. Lauren knew how hard it was on Tina when her and Bette had been separated and she really wanted to see them work it out. She was similar to Shane in that she really respected their relationship and looked up to it as a marker for which all other successful relationships should be judged. Andrew, Laurens boyfriend and father of Jamie, came in behind Lauren and also congratulated Bette on the pregnancy. He was still kind of confused about Bette and Tinas relationship, but still, he supported it. Bette said her hellos to all of Tinas relatives and walked outside to find Tina and Jamie looking at something in the backyard. Bette watched them through the kitchen window with a smile on her face, noticing how happy Tina was just to be playing with Jamie and carrying her around. She is so ready for motherhood, thought Bette with a smile. Lauren saw Bette watching her sister and daughter outside and she walked over to Bette with a smile on her face.

That will be your baby girl shes playing with soon.

YeahI mean for the most part. There are some days that are better than others but I wouldnt trade it for anything.

Bette gave Lauren a knowing smile and Lauren just shook her head in agreement. She had been just as angry with Bette as Tina had when she found out about the cheating, but she knew her anger was out of protection for her older sister. Tina had such a big heart and Lauren couldnt stand to see it hurting for even one second. Lauren knew that Tina and Bette were meant to be together but she just didnt understand why Bette strayed in the first place. When Tina first told her that she was back together with Bette, Lauren was a little weary of the situation, but it passed in time as she saw how happy Bette made Tina. Lauren smiled knowing that Bette knew how she felt about her and how much they both loved Tina, even if it was for different reasons. Lauren looked outside again and saw Tina on the ground with Jamie between her legs and laughed when Jamie threw a pile of leaves at Tina playfully. Tina jumped up and pulled Jamie into her arms and swung her around a little before heading back inside.

Jamie ran through the door looking for Lauren and showed her the ladybug that her and Tina had found outside. Lauren smiled and led Jamie away to find something to put it in. Tina washed her hands and after drying them on a towel reached out and pulled Bette into her arms. Bette placed a small kiss on Tinas forehead and wrapped her arms around her shoulders holding her close. Nancy came into the kitchen at that moment looking for some plates and smiled when she saw the exchange between Tina and Bette. Nancy knew how much Tina loved Bette and she was so happy that they were finally going to have their baby. Nancy left quickly and Bette and Tina laughed after seeing her quick escape. Bette pulled away a little and let one hand drift down to Tinas stomach. Tina put her hands over Bettes and smiled up at her as Bette leaned in for a quick kiss. They walked back into the living room and spent time talking with everyone and catching up on the latest news about the family. Dinner was served soon and everyone dug in hungrily and mixed eating with conversation for the next hour or so. After dinner everyone settled in to enjoy the night as Jamie entertained everyone with some silly story or song. Bette watched her with a smile on her face and she couldnt wait to see her own daughter do such things.

Tina saw Bette watching Jamie and she smiled contentedly. Tina knew that the last time they had tried to do this it was safe to say that she wanted a baby more than Bette, but this time she knew Bette was ready. Tina almost felt tears forming as she pictured Bette playing with their baby girl or reading her a bedtime story and she knew Bette would make an excellent parent. Tina remembered what Bette had said about being scared of turning into her father, but she knew this would never happen. Bette already had too much love for Tina and the unborn child they were expecting to ever push either of them away and become emotionally distant again. Tina saw how captivated Bette was by Jamie and how gently she laughed when Jamie did something funny. It made Tina realize how hard it really must have been for Bette when they lost the baby and she understood how Bette must have felt.

After a few hours everyone started to leave but Tina and Lauren were going to stay and help clean up so that meant Bette and Andrew were also. They cleaned the house quickly and soon it was just the five of them sitting around drinking coffee and talking. Jamie was still awake and Bette couldnt believe such a little person could have so much energy. Lauren said she had something to show Tina so they went outside to her car for a little bit leaving Bette, Andrew, Nancy and Jamie in the house. Bette smiled at Andrew and Nancy and laughed when Jamie crawled into the chair next to her and sat at the table just like Tina would. Bette could see such a resemblance to Tina in Jamie and she could picture what their baby would look like. Jamie and Tina shared the same golden blonde hair and the same bright eyes and beautiful smile. This was probably because Tina and Lauren looked so much alike and Bette wondered where Andrews genes fit into all this. Jamie leaned over and looked at Bette before giving her a brilliant smile and Bettes breath caught in her throat a little when she realize she was looking at Tinas smile. Jamie didnt know Bette that well since Lauren hadnt invited Bette over too often after her and Tina initially broke up, but Bette was glad that Jamie was comfortable with her. Bette wasnt all that good with kids, in fact she was a little afraid to be left alone with them for fear of not knowing what to do, but with Nancy and Andrew sitting right there she was okay with Jamie being so curious about her.

Jamie studied Bette as if she was looking for some sign that it was okay to play with her and after a few minutes Jamie stood up on the chair and placed a small hand on Bettes shoulder. Bette quickly turned to face her, not knowing what Jamie was going to do and she had a slightly worried look on her face. She hoped Jamie wouldnt just jump into her lap and was relieved when Jamie just stuck a hand out and touched Bettes face softly. Andrew and Nancy smiled at this and Andrew teased Bette about turning another Kennard woman *****, but he was quickly reprimanded for his bad joke by Nancy. Bette just shook her head at Andrew and turned back to Jamie, studying her just like she was studying Bette. Jamie was finally satisfied at looking at Bette and she gently eased her way onto Bettes lap. She kind off caught Bette by surprise and Nancy laughed when Bette didnt really know what to do once Jamie was in her lap. Bette just kind of put her arms to the side so that Jamie wouldnt fall, and after a few minutes she finally closed her arms around Jamie.

Tina and Lauren came back into the house after a few minutes and when they found Jamie in Bettes lap they had completely different reactions. Lauren laughed and teased Bette about how cute she looked with a baby in her lap, while Tina was speechless. She knew that Bette wasnt that fond of babies, although she was very much looking forward to theirs, and she couldnt believe that Jamie was able to wiggle her way onto Bettes lap. Tina felt the tears rising again and she just took in the sight of Bette holding an apparently now sleeping Jamie in her lap. Bette hadnt realized that Jamie fell asleep and she wondered when that kids energy was going to run out but now she didnt know what to do. Tina smiled and walked up behind her placing a soft kiss on her cheek and they both looked down at the sleeping child in her arms.

Bette grinned at Tina and Tina laughed at Bettes sense of accomplishment at being able to handle a two year old. Lauren motioned for Bette to follow her to the bedroom so that she could put Jamie down for the night. Lauren and Andrew were from out of town so they were staying overnight and Nancy had set up Tinas old room as Jamies room for whenever she visited. Bette stood up awkwardly and followed Lauren down the hall to the room. After gently putting Jamie to sleep Bette just stood there and watched her sleeping with a smile on her face. Lauren saw this and whispered something to Bette.

Youre going to be a great mom.

They left quietly and Tina was waiting for them with a big smile on her face. As she and Bette put on their jackets and grabbed their purses to leave Tina winked at Bette. Bette smiled at her and after they said goodbye to everyone they walked hand in hand to Bettes car. As they drove back to their house Tina leaned back in the seat and sighed contentedly. She looked over at Bette and reached for her hand. Bette kissed Tinas hand lovingly and smiled at her as she maneuvered her car through the streets of LA.

They got home and went to sleep early that night since Bette had to be at work at seven oclock the next morning. Bette knew she was totally prepared for whatever may come their way over the next few months, but she was also terrified that she might make a mistake or do something wrong. Tinas right though, as long as were in this together right? This thought put Bette at ease and she was able to fall asleep quickly and peacefully. This was the best time of their life so far but little did she know that was all about to change.
