    Cure-all, Chapter 11

    CHAPTER 11

Standing before the parapet of the stone terrasse scattered with big jars of beautiful plants and colored flowers, the old man was looking at his favorite view. His vineyard, heavy with grapes, and almost ready for the harvest at this time of year, was stretching far into the valley, and in this early morning hour, the fruity scent of the vines subtly reached up to him, titillating his nostrils. He inhaled deeply and smiled, the sweet scent never failing to bring him peace and joy.

He sat down in his rocking chair and sighed. He had behaved badly with her. He would never admit it to Katel, as the old maid would be too happy to lecture him once again. But deep inside, he knew that he had been out of line. He loved his granddaughter more than anything, and he had always promised to support her, whatever her choices. Yet, there he was, sitting alone on his terrasse in Walheim when he should have been there with her, hugging her before sending her away on her honeymoon with her wife.

Her wife… Helena Peabody. The old man shook his head and let out a sigh. It wasn’t that he disliked Helena… Well, he didn’t particularly like the whole media and business fuss that surrounded her, and thus his granddaughter – God, he still couldn’t believe this interview – yet, he fully trusted Tina’s judgement. But what he wanted was for Tina to be truly happy, and he would have gladly approved of this wedding hadn’t he known what he knew. What he had known from the very beginning when he had first seen them together.

Granted, Helena was a fairly nice woman and his granddaughter seemed to love her…

But that’s exactly what had struck Charles Kennard and worried him ever since. He had raised Tina, and nobody on this earth could read her like he did. Even now.

    And that’s why he knew…

Tina loved Helena Peabody… But she wasn’t in love with her.

He had watched his grandchild grow into a woman. A beautiful, kind and talented woman. And he’d always hoped that she would be lucky enough to find love. Real and overwhelming love. Someone who would love her like she deserved to be loved, and that she would truly love in return. Someone that he would trust to take care of his little girl after he’d passed… And he just couldn’t bring himself to believe that Tina had found that someone in Helena.

    1. Love the Grandfather, Hope that the vines are telling the truth, He would Love Bette, because she loves Tina so much. As does he. Tango that should tell Tina something. thanks

    2. I do love this story, well except for Tina being married to any one other than Bette Porter. When Bette goes to SF does get to meet Tina’s granddaddy?

    3. Bette is already head over heels in love with Tina — I hope the Tango lessons are actually put into action on a dance floor in the future… Thanks for the wonderful story!

    4. Hey K.. I am so looking forward for more Tibette interactions.. I love your writing.. To Lamentamini.. I always keep my sounds muted at work, unfortunately, I was reading this story when my boss peeked in my room to tell me that my report was excellent, lol, I was praying he did not notice what was in my screen.

    5. ROSITA’S FIRST STEPS’… Mmmh, isn’t it just the right place for you, Porter ! Hahahaha ! You had me laughing my a** off with this, K !! Oh, and I think I’m going to like this new Tim too. What a joker ! Hahahaha ! Anyway, I’m really sorry that I don’t have much time to comment today ( since I’m supposed to be working… Rolling my eyes à la Tina ), but I really liked the chapter. Of course I’m looking forward to some more Tibette interaction as well, but this is probably the next best thing… Thank you, K !
