    Different, yet the same.

The room is dimly lit by the shade-covered window that allows only the slightest bit of sunlight through its barrier.  The smell of burned down candles clings in the air like cellophane..the melted wax and singed wick resonate a scent. The sheets are in complete disarray, and the pillows are strewn about like chocolate chips on a warm, delicious cookie.  Two half-empty glasses of wine sit on the nightstand. The first few sips were clearly enjoyed, but the remainder forgotten about and left to stand as witnesses of the nights unfolding events.  On the door handle, a shirt hangs.  One could simply look at this shirt, and formulate what had happened in this room.  The way, it was so carelessly thrown there, without purpose, and in a quick haste. If you listen carefully, you can hear a bird singing its tune. The one its known for.  The same one it sings every morning, it brings a certain monotony to the start of each day in that bedroom. There’s a comfort in that repetition.  Looking at this setting, it would at first appear an empty room simply full of memories. No trace of human life among the many adjectives that describe the room. Upon further inspection..if you look just past the cream colored rumpled bed, there are two bodies.  They are wrapped up in a comforter that used to reside on the bed, and they are wrapped up in eachother arms.  At some point in the night, they ended up on the floor.  When, why, or how are questions that never even crossed their minds.  If you look really closely, you can see hands holding each other in the tightest way possible. Each finger has its own place and crevice, intertwining and perfectly-fitting. Suddenly one of the figures shifts, and her eyes open slowly. At first, there is a look of disarray and confusion, but not for long.  As soon as she looks down in her arms, a look of pure euphoria replaces it.  She smiles and presses the most gentle kiss to her forehead as not to wake her.  The kiss, though soft, awakens the second figures senses..and she turns back to face an awaiting set of lips. Then their lips come together like puzzle pieces that were just waiting to find each other.  It lasts for only seconds, but it resonates for minutes.  A look is exchanged between two sets of eyes. A look of joy, satisfaction, love, and..change. Things weren’t going to stay the same after this..it was impossible.

“Good morning T,” the first figure says with a warm smile.

“Good morning Bette,” Tina replies with a sigh of familiarity and comfort.
