Divergence 2
With the assistance of the hospital’s grief counselors and the support of Kit, Bette made arrangements with a local funeral parlor. She hadn’t wanted to leave the room. To her, that was the equivalent of leaving Tina.
Again, it was Kit that got her up and moving, got her to concentrate on the other considerations of the day. First and foremost was Angelica.
“You don’t know how fast this will get around. People will talk. Your baby’s still at the Planet.”
“Fuck.” Bette slumped against the wall of the corridor. “I need to have Alice take her to my place.”
“That’s good.” Kit rubbed her sister’s arm, providing a tangible show of encouragement.
“Shit. No.”
“Baby sis?”
“Alice doesn’t have a car seat in her car.”
Kit considered that for a moment. “Have her take a cab.”
“Right.” Bette pulled her phone from her bag. She punched two numbers, then cut off the connection. “I can’t. Can you?”
“Of course. I need to tell them I’m not coming back.”
“Don’t tell her yet.” Bette gripped Kit’s hand tightly. “I don’t want her to hear over the phone.”
“I’ll just ask her to bring babygirl to your place, all right?”
“Yes. All right.”
“But Bette, you’re going to have to let people know.”
Bette took in and released a deep breath. “It’s so final. I don’t know.”
“Let me call Alice and my manager. You think about who needs to know. You can have James do most of the calling.”
“Fuck. James. I need to call in to work. I need to call the studio; they’ve already called me.”
Kit wrapped her arms around her sister. “You’ll get through this.”
To this, Bette nodded but looked unconvinced. She let Kit get on with the initial calls.

Bette and Kit were sitting quietly in a darkened living room when Alice popped in.
“Hey!”
Set on the ground, Angie ran to her mother and threw her arms around her neck.
To Kit, it was apparent that Bette was just moments from losing it. “Hey babygirl. Let’s go outside and play.”

This is sad, you make me cry my friend. We love your writing my friend and please continue, thanks!
still in shock over this story…i can’t ever write about main character’s death no matter what, you are brave for doing it
Everything you write is always so well done, even when the subject might be hard to bear. I always appreciate your posts. thanks for taking the time to write, and share it. take care.
Your story was so very sad and heartbreaking, but you did it with class. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Beautifully written. Keep doing what you need to do to help in the healing process.
Pseud, it takes time to heal, emotions can be all over the place, anger, love, why did it have to be them, we do get there in the end, the good memories is what I focused on, they get you through the bad days. I wish you all the best, take care.
Pseud – I respect your right and reason for writing this. Good luck and godspeed.
Pseud I may not like the subject but I respect your writing. If you need to vent things out through your writing then do it.
First of all, thank you for your post. Secondly, I am sorry to hear that you are going thru some rough time. Reading fanfiction has been a way for me to escape and cope with my own turbulent life. I hope that writing will give you peace and resolution in the same way when as your reading due with your stories. Sometimes, a moment or two gives us enough strength to go on and face another day. Take care.
Indeed, what is writing, but an outlet for what we think and feel? Write this as you wish. I admit, the first chapter was a shock, but your storytelling is too good to pass up. Looking forward to your next post, whatever it may be.
I’m glad you continued with this story. Fan fiction isn’t just an escape, it is a way for the writer to explore life how she or he chooses. Life is complicated and often not fair, loss is a part of life, and how we deal with the grief and move on becomes an important part of who were are. I hope you continue, but understand if you don’t. Your writing is always worth reading.
You know how we love our B & T..Just a shock when anyone kills one of them. Your stories are always wonderful to read and even though this one made me sad I will keep coming back to read.
Hope things are improving in your part of the world and that the readers here haven’t been too rough. Some just can’t handle any version of ‘their’ characters in anything but a story book tale. But some of us just want to see whatever you’ve got.
I first read the story b/c of you being the author. It was sad but sometimes such is life. If it brings you solace in your time of need, so be it. This event is something universal and I hope that writing brings you comfort. I will always read your stories if you continue to write.
Pseud, you know I love your writing and your stories. I will always read something with your name on it because it is always creative and well written. I’m sure you understand that B&T lovers find it hard when an author kills a character that is so loved and treasured as these two are. However, if you found it cathartic for you to write this, then I’m glad.
What is writing but an outlet for conveying our innermost thoughts and feelings? If writing for you is the way to get over your grief, then do it. No one is going to be mad at you for doing this in a way to let your emotions out. Death is a very tough subject that all of us would rather not discuss, but it is a part of life. I applaud you for the efforts you have put forth in your stories. You’re a genuine writer and you should continue even when some disagree with you. Thank you for your stories!
