    Do you remember when… Chapter 16

     

     

    Bette leaned back against the counter; she flicked through the magazine that Tina had left on the table as she waited for the kettle to boil.  Her eyes scanning the glossy pages, her mind busy elsewhere, busy thinking about Tina, it was always busy thinking about Tina.  Thinking about Tina and the plans she had finally managed to bring together today…

     

     

    She smiled to herself, Tina… Tina… Tina… why is it after all this time that she still had that little flicker in her chest when she thought about her, that skipping of a heartbeat, that race through her veins, that flush of heat across her skin as the goose bumps travelled down her spine.

     

     

    Tina had just called from her cell to tell her she would be home in ten minutes, it was unusual for Bette to be home first, but she had wanted to make sure she left on time tonight, tonight Tina had told her she was cooking them a special meal, but when Bette arrived home Tina was nowhere to be seen, so with a quick shower she slipped on Tina’s favourites… her levis, the exercise routine she had been following had worked a treat after the chocolate cake fest and now, they fitted just like they used to, with enough room to manoeuvre and the added tightness she knew Tina liked, with an old, but favourite Aerosmith tour tee shirt, it completed the comfortable at home outfit as she waited for Tina to arrive.

     

     

    Bette too had arranged something special for this evening, something she had been thinking about for the last couple of weeks and trying to juggle some free time at work, but that had worked itself out for the following weekend, it was an ideal opportunity to do the thing she wanted for Tina, so she had made the necessary arrangements at work for an extended weekend, she had called Tina’s work colleague and also made the arrangements without her girlfriend finding out and booked the flights and hotel so she was able to take Tina away for a special weekend, for the simple reason of just because…

     

     

    She had folded the tickets up and slid them into the back pocket of her jeans; she would wait until the right moment to surprise Tina when she got home.

I was really struck by the way you introduced the whole idea and how this phrase gave so much meaning and intensity to the love they share… You really have a special gift, and that’s such an understatement for the magic of your words… I loved the whole chapter, of course, but that first part… that simple but oh so cherished moment of coming home to the one you love… Thank you… And you ARE the “Bomb”!
