“Ok Porter, time’s up we haven’t seen you in ages.  We’re going out tonight all of us.”

            “How can I refuse such an eloquent invitation?” Bette asked sarcastically.  “Unfortunately I am not free this evening, Angelica is with me.”

            “So we’ll come there.  I’m always up for spending time with my earth daughter.  We’ll order in and hang out for awhile and catch up.”

            “Alright Alice, I do miss you all.  It will be nice to see everyone.” 

            “Cool, I’ll take care of all the details.  How’s six?”

            “Perfect I get home about four thirty on Fridays so that will give me time to settle Angie in before you all get here.  Who’s coming?”

            “Shane and Shay, Jenny, Helena, Kit boy our crowd has really shrunk hasn’t it.  Should I invite Tina?”

            “Tina? Why would you invite her?  She’s not exactly a part of our crowd anymore.” 

            “Well maybe not in her sexual orientation but she still is our friend and the mother of your daughter. She still identifies politically as a lesbian, you heard her.” 

            “I don’t know Al.  I’m not ready to hang out with Tina by choice just yet.”

            “That’s strange the word on the street is that the two of you were seen in a cozy dinner for two last night.”

            “We had things to discuss concerning Angelica.”  Bette said annoyed at how gossip flew so fast.  “It was not a cozy intimate dinner.”

            “Oh” Alice was disappointed.  She still held hope that the two people that were made for each other would get back together.  She was still processing Helena’s disclosure that Bette seemed to be getting quite close to some high class lesbian that moved in Helena’s past circles.  Bette had not told her she was seeing anyone and the more time that went by she was inclined to believe that it was a one night event or that Helena misread the situation after all. It was an event and Porter went to her fair share of those with dates that meant nothing to her.

            “Alice, I don’t want to come between you and Tina or have everyone think they need to choose sides.  I’m sorry but I don’t want to spend the evening with Tina and Henry here with such a small number of people.  Perhaps in time I’ll feel differently.”
