Expedition of the Heart—Chapter 2
Bettes in art too! Tina interjected.
Really?
Yes she runs the CAC, Tina replied beaming with pride and reaching out to hold Bettes hand on the table.
Ive been there wonderful pieces. Since were on the subject, what does everyone else do? Cecilia questioned as she felt Marina leave her side. She watched as the beautiful woman selected another chair, placed it across from her own, and sat down. Cecilia tried desperately to not be rude and looked at everyone as they answered her question, but her eyes kept returning to Marina. The object of her focus returned her gaze openly and watched the interaction between her friends and Cecilia.
Quite a diverse group, Cecilia said as she picked up her cup.
Yeah its amazing were all friends. So do you get to be all Indiana Jones-like or is it pretty boring? Alice asked.
There are moments, Cecilia replied sipping carefully at the dark contents of her cup. My God this is incredible! Melissa was right thank you. She directed her words at Marina.
Youre very welcome.
Whos Melissa? Dana questioned.
She must be that friend of yours that had some interesting things to say about our coffees, Marina said smiling at Cecilia.
Exactly.
Tell us about some of these moments, Shane said huskily into Cecilias ear as she lay her arm across the back of her chair. Everyone at the table looked at Shane. Alice shot her a do-you-have-to-hit-on-every-woman stare. What? Shane questioned as she smiled and removed her arm.
Let me see OH there was this time in Everyone listened to Cecilias story as she spun a wonderful tale of Egyptian Gods and jewelry that was found on a mummy that they had unearthed. As she spoke, you could see her passion for her job and Marina began to feel more and more like she wanted to know this woman in every sense of the word. The next two hours went by quickly as Cecilia asked and answered questions and got to know the women she had just met. At one point, they were all laughing so hard that Dana had to wipe tears from her face.
No you didnt! Alice said in disbelief.
Yep I marched right up and laid one on her. It was then that the conversation was interrupted by two girls that looked like they were in their late teens.
