"Of course, let’s get moving!"

"Tina, here," my mom said, handing me a huge cooler.

"Mom! You didn’t have too!"

"I need to make sure you girls are eating, so I packed a lot of food."

"Thanks Momma K," Shane exclaimed and helped me with the cooler.

Much to my disappointment, Bette was not there waiting to surprise me. Kit was in the car and we all piled in. We started singing as Kit drove us to the beach, we got there in no time and sqeualed with excitement. We were walking towards the beach when I noticed Bette and another woman setting up a tent over a couple chairs and a picnic table.

"Hey Tina, isn’t that your girrrrrrlfrrrrrrriend," Shane sang at me and I blushed.

"Hey who is that other woman," Alice pipped up.

We walked towards the beach and I suddenly got shy when we reached the tent. Maybe it’s because Bette was there and she knows me like no one else here does. Or possibly because my friends were staring at us like we were animals at the zoo.

"Hey baby," she said and gave me a kiss to which all the girls oo’d. I gave them all the middle finger as my face went red.

"Hello girls," Bette said and hugged Shane, "girls this is Tasha Williams, one of my good, dear friends. Tasha is an LAPD officer."

"You know I love a woman in uniform," Alice whispered in my ear and I giggled.

We started setting up our camp, and then it was play time. Shane and Carmen ran towards the ocean and Carmen’s screams and laughter got us excited. We all started splashing around and after a while, Bette and I retired to the shore. We sat, cuddled up as the waves washed over us and the girls kept playing. Alice was following Tasha around like a puppy and Dana, the introverted athlete was actually talking to a girl in another group. Kit and Angus sat back at the tent watching and talking. It was the best day ever.

When the sun started setting, we started setting up our tents. Alice and Dana set theirs up, Angus set his and Kit’s up and I was helping Shane put hers and Carmen’s up. I had helped Bette put ours up and Tasha had already set hers up. I had never been camping before, so I was very excited.
