Jackson and I went back to school after a fun two week vacation. Tina had gone back to work, but had elected to take a couple classes at the local community college to re-prepare her for college life. She was going to spend two years earning her MSN while working and taking care of Jackson. She was overwhelmed at the thought but was relieved that she had me for support. Also having Kit and our friends to help out with Jackson was also a major relief.

My birthday was that Saturday and Tina had been scheming to make it our best first birthday together. Kit had agreed to watch Jackson that weekend for us, his birthday was four days after mine, so he thought we were planning a party for him. Which we already had an idea in mind. I was antsy about my birthday, I really hate surprises and being left in the dark. But I trusted Tina and I let her do as she wished. Tina had made a reservation at the finest restaurant and bought something, initmate, for our night of fun. I knew something was up but couldn’t quite put my finger on it and she wasn’t letting me in on it. It was such a tease thinking of all the things we’d do this weekend.

”Hey babe, how was your first day back?”

”Ugh, it’s a lot of work already, this semester is gonna be fast paced. I’m kind of nervous about it.”

”Don’t sweat it, you’ll do great,” she said sitting across from me, ”thanks for picking Jackson up for me. He had fun at The Planet with you.”

”I know we’re having a lot of fun together, I like the time we spend alone. I am really trying to get to know him and get him to trust me.”

”I will always remember the conversation you had with Jackson,” she smiled and I grabbed her hand, ”Kids are very trusting, no matter who you are, until you break their trust.”

”Trust me babe,” I said, scooting her close to me, ”I have no plans on breaking his or yours.”

”Momma,” we heard just as I kissed her.

”Yes baby,” Tina answered after we parted.

”My movie is over and I’m really hungry.”
