    Summer 2005

    (Helena’s Penthouse)

Helena: Dear are you going to the park today?

Tina: Yeah, I just love sitting and watching people as they walk by.

Helena: Okay, well I will call you so we can have dinner.

Tina: Alright. (Helena kisses Tina and leaves)

Tina:(thinking to herself, maybe I will call Bette just to hear her voice. Dialing the home number. ” Sorry the voicemail box is full”.) That is funny Bette always checks her messages. Well I will call the CAC. ( dialing Bette’s line.) ( James answers) Bette Porter’s line, this James how can I help you?
James, this is Tina, can I please talk to Bette.( James tells Tina that Bette is away on business)

Tina: Dammit, where in the ***** is Bette. Maybe I will call her cell phone. Yeah, I will call her cell phone. ( Tina dials Bette’s number, but gets a recording telling her that the number has been disconnected) Where is she?

(Meanwhile Peggy has learned from Helena that Tina is planning to spend some time in the park and informs Bette about the plans.)

Peggy: Get close to her, but don’t let her see you completely. Make her think that she is imaginging things.

Bette: Okay, but what is she tries to follow me?

Peggy: I will have a car waiting for so all you will have to do is get in the car and ride off.

Bette: Alright, are you sure this is going to work.

Peggy: I bet my life on it.

    (Central Park)

Tina has made herself comfortable on a bench near a fountain. She has been watching people for about an hour when a somewhat familiar figure strolls by.

    Tina: Bette!

    The stranger just keeps walking.

Tina sits a while longer when the figure passes her again.

    Tina: Bette, is that you.

Again the stranger says nothing and continues on.

Tina then decides that she is hungry and decides to get a sandwhich from Sal’s Deli.

As Tina walks into the door she stops, there the stranger is again ordering a sandwhich, Tina’s favorite sandwhich to be exact. Tina’s breathing sunddenly becomes labored at the thought of being so close to someone that looks almost like Bette.

Tina once again calls out Bette’s name and still no answer from the stranger. Tina finally gives up as the stranger makes her way out of the door and into the waiting car.

Inside the car Bette slowly takes of the hood of her sweatshirt and takes out the headphones connected to her Ipod.

Bette: Paul take me to the hotel.

    ( 2 Weeks Later)

Tina: I am telling you Helena, I think that Bette is here in New York.

Helena: Darling, I think that you want to make Bette here, so you are making everyone who slightly resembles Bette into Bette.

Tina: Helena, I am not. I don’t know what it is about this woman that makes me think she is Bette, but everywhere I go she is there.

Helena: Well, darling that is called a coincedence. I just think that you are really stressed right now and need to relax. Don’t forget tomorrow is the Peabody Foundation Gala.

Tina: I know. Do you know who this guest attendee is.

Helena: No. I suppose it is a friend of my mothers from a thousand years ago though. The way she is always going on about her you would think that this woman was GOD.

Tina: Okay, I am going to go to bed now. Sweet Dreams.

    Helena: Yes, you to dear.

TBC- We know who the guest attendee is but what will Tina do when she finds out?
