    Some more talking, the hospital and then going to the hotel for the night.

    Chapter Five

    “Does it hurt?” Bette asks concerned as Tina has been quiet for a while now.

    “Yeah.” Tina replies with a sigh.

    They pulled up in front of the hospital.

    “You want me with you? Or shall I stay here with Evan?” Bette asks softly. She could see that Tina was scared and insecure and she saw that she was starting so shake a little.

    “I’ll go with you. Let me take out Evan first, just sit tight.” Bette says as she gets out of the car and walk around and unbuckle Evans car seat. He’s still asleep, which amazed Bette, that he could sleep through the events of tonight. Once he was secured in Bette’s hand, she opened the door for Tina to step out. Together they walked into the hospital emergency entrance and to the front desk. A nurse looks up and sees that Tina is bleeding.

    “She was hit, and probably broke her nose. A doctor should take a look.” Bette says. Tina looked at her thankfully. Bette brings her free arm around Tina’s shoulder and holds her close for a few moments. “It’s going to be okay. You can relax now. No one will hurt you again, okay?” Bette whispers. Tina quietly fills out the form with her personal information which she got from the woman behind the desk.

    Minutes later Tina’s name is announced. Tina stands up she turns towards Bette with a pleading look.

    “Sure.” Bette says with a soft smile. She lifts Evan and follows Tina and the doctor into an exam room.

    “Hi I’m Dr. Hawkins, how may I help you?” He asks.

    “I think my nose is broken.” Tina says. She takes away the towel and let the doctor looks at it.

    “It seems that way yes, but to be completely sure, we’ll take an x-ray, also to see if the fracture is complicated or an easy fix. Can I ask how this happened?” He asks.

    “My husband beat me.” Tina simply said.

    “Have you pressed charges?” The Dr. asks.

    “Yes, I have. He’s locked away for the time being. It’s not the first time.” Tina says as she shows him her arms.

    “Dr.? Is it possible for you to take a few x-rays of her body as well? To see if maybe a rib is broken or if there has been fractures somewhere before?” Bette asks.

    1. GOD bette you are an Angel. But don’t let Tina by herself and please take her with you where ever you are living. Don’t trust Eric and the system in domestic violence. We know the record about the number of women killed by their exes. Great chapter again, love it especially the scene where Bette had Evan on her chest, both asleep. PPVS

    2. I think you need to write a a good reason for Tina to move to Nashville! Please!! I love the direction your story is taking….I hope there is no loophole that will let Eric loose to cause more shit in Tina, Evan, and to some degree Bette’s life! Thank you for updating so frequently!

    3. I know that Bette is detective and her job is to help people, but there must be more to it than that in her zeal to assist Tina, are we going to find out that Bette or maybe her motther suffered abuse before. I find it interesting that Bette said “we will enjoy the room”.

    5. Hey Lauren, I am so happy that Tina and Evan are outta of Eric’s reach. Goof that Bette has been able to get Tina to press charges and away from that terrible environment.I can’t wait to read more as there seems to be a very definite connection between these women.More please.     11. I was thinking exactly the same thing as AmandaMG – Eric could be released without her knowing and he’d come looking for Tina and the baby. Bette is doing all the right things for Tina – let her re-group in a safe environment, but with some control of her life. PPS!
